We had issues with our booking and called the guesthouse 3 times to rectify the problem. We were told to speak to the manager by the booking company. The woman on the line (she sounded over 40) was rude and standoff-ish, she just kept trying to shift the blame and refused to help out. Rudest person in Iceland. We tried... More

This is a great option for a reasonable price (by Icelandic standards) in one of the most beautiful spots in the Westfjords. Everything is in within walking distance, and you even get a discount at the excellent restaurant at Hotel Isafjordur. The rooms are clean and spacious, and though the bathrooms are shared there are plenty even with a full... More

I adore Ísafjörður! It's one of the most arrestingly beautiful spots on earth, built on a little spit of land sheltered by the steep sides of the fjord. Gamla Guesthouse is just feet from the breaker wall/beach, where I've enjoyed some of the most stunning sunsets on Earth. Also right around the corner from the local pub Húsið, which features... Our room was pretty simple, 2 twin bed, 2 night stands and a chair. There is a sink in the room and on the upper floor there are 6 rooms that share 3 toilets and 2 showers. The front end staff are helpful and pleasant. The guesthouse is located in the old harbour but Isafjordur is such a small place... More

It isn't cheap but it is slightly cheaper than a hotel. About 163 Euros for a double room with a shared WC and bathroom down the hall. The breakfast buffet is modest but decent. Atmosphere is cosy, charming, relaxing -- just the thing after a long hike! Free wifi and overall clean, well-appointed, lovely place to stay.

I booked a coed sleeping bag accommodation here. I was extremely happy to find I had a whole room to myself with four beds in the room. The shared bathroom across the hall was spotless and no problems with sharing with others in the building. This is a property of the Hotel Isafjordur, and was likewise terrifically located right on... More

This little town is charming and so is the guesthouse. Small but cozy with reasonable sized rooms, the usual comfy beds and good breakfast. No frills but very clean. Shared bathroom and kitchen. Take a walk around town, it is very pretty.

Staff is extremely friendly and helpful! Also knowledgeable about the area attractions. Good location, right in the middle of the town center, breakfast looks great! Definitely highly recommended to everyone.

I traveled to Ísafjörður for a guided kayak tour with Borea Adventures. I booked one night before and after the trip respectively. I had different rooms. I stayed in a private room with sleeping bag accomodation. Those rooms are in a different building 30 m away from the main house. Breakfast was not included. I spotted 5 rooms with 2... More

Such a wonderful, cozy guesthouse, it felt like staying with Grandma. Everything was clean, the other guests were quiet, towels were provided for sleeping bag accommodation, reception desk was extremely helpful. I had a great experience at Gamla's Guesthouse!
