Having stayed here and having read many TripAdvisor reviews AFTER staying here, I think there must have been a management and staff change. Magnus and Max are great co-managers and are warm and friendly and very welcoming. We were actually able to get a discount (not a markup) through CouchSurfing, for the 2 nights we stayed there. Yes, it's location...

Everything wrong with Egilsborg Guesthouse: 1) You will pay up to 10% more than the price announced by hotels.com (the owner will tell you it is additional tax and credit card supplement… this has never happen in any others hotels we stayed in Reykjavik) 2) nobody to welcome you. A key with a piece of paper with your name in...

We stayed here for four nights at the end of our two week tour of Iceland. We booked through trivago and had a very strict budget to stick to and found a lot of Reykjavik accommodation out of our price range. As one of the cheapest places in Reykjavik it is basic. In the communal area there was a TV...

We stayed here for two nights, our first two nights in Reykjavik at the start of our RTW trip! The place is very basic. There is wifi which is a massive plus when in a foreign country, but it doesn't reach every room. There is no kitchen for guests. There is a kitchen for staff to use. The only appliance...

My wife and my daughter stayed there for one night and the owner was from the first moment on unfriendly. He charged more money than they were told by Expedia, he told them something because of city taxes. Next day when they wanted to leave their luggage there until they left town for their flight home, he wanted to charge...

I stayed two nights. The room is clean and bed sheets also clean. You need to pay 500IKS for a bath towel while other guesthouse I stayed in the same trip gave it free. Shower is okay but you need to keep pressing button frequently otherwise it stops in a few seconds. Breakfast is juice, instant coffee, milk and three...

The staff is false and rude and just want your money. They made me feel really insecure. The hostel is okay, but not a very nice area. But the rudeness of the staff made my whole staying terrible. They had no sense of care or service, just ice cold and very business minded. I would never come here again because...

We stayed here for one night as it was the only decently priced guesthouse available on such a short notice (we wanted to go camping but changed our plans because of the weather). Having been warned about the mysterious 5% charge for credit card, we paid by cash. Let's try to be fair. The construction noise is not much of...

We booked a twin and they gave us a double. The excuse was that we were the last to arrive and they had no twin rooms left!!?! The only other option they gave us was to cancel our booking which we didn't do simply because it was too late (our flight landed at 9pm in the far Keflavik airport). So...
