We arrived at the House of Spirits after a very long trip and despite being told that somebody would definitely be there to greet us, nobody was. We had to wait a long time. While waiting, we looked around at some of the rooms and I was disappointed by the level of cleanliness and general appearance of the rooms. If...

Stayed in Room 203, on the corner of the building so we had two windows looking out over two different streets. Well appointed, clean, everything you need, enough space to cook, eat, sleep etc. Can't beat the location. Gunnar was friendly, accessible and helpful.

We felt so fortunate to be here with Gunnar. The location can't be beat. We could walk most places and Gunnar was extremely helpful. He even made the Flybus reservation for us when we left. When we told him how much we loved Icelandic chocolate with licorice, we found a bag with two candy bars in it on our doorknob...

Great location in the heart of Reykjavik. Small studio, but very clean, with all you could need, including a tiny full bath, a kitchenette and location, location, location. Walk to everything, including the old harbor, museums, galleries, restaurants, shopping, etc. A really good deal, particularly as Reykjavik is so expensive.

We had this apartment booked at the beginning and end of our trip. Gunnar emailed me the night before we departed from the first portion and told me it wasn't booked in between so we could leave our stuff there. Such a nice gesture. It was also stocked with cereal, milk, tea, etc.

Great location for exploring downtown Reykjavik. Host Gunnar is very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was adequate, but a bit rough around the edges. The en suite bathroom is very small with a very small shower. It is no mean feat to keep water inside the shower curtain! Breakfast is not served, however Gunnar supplies some basics...

The location is simply perfect: a block away from the Old Harbour; on the immediate western side of the main downtown area; and an easy walk further east to Hallgrimskirkja and the main shopping area along Laugevegur. I stayed three nights in Room 103, one of the efficiencies. It was everything that I needed, and at a very reasonable price...

Comfortable, clean, and convenient guesthouse in the center of 101 Reykjavik district. Gunnar your host is very friendly and helpful. Quick walk to the tourist office, grocery store, post office, and the marina. Very close to many good restaurants and cafes. We plan to stay again. Takk fyrir Gunnar!

I will admit that this apartment was first considered because the owner claims to be "the cheapest in town". However, there's much more to it than that. Many people only stay a few days in Reykjavik but we were planning a two week visit so finding the correct accommodation was very important. For a start, when first writing to Gunnar,...
