The location is awesome, right near the two main streets in Reykjavik. The guesthouse itself is even better, with a home-like coziness to it that is much appreciated after a long cold day of activities. The beds are comfortable and the bedding is amazing (so much that I want to buy the same pillow). You get a free phone to... More

We had a lovely stay. There is a nice kitchen to eat and sit. The beds are okay. And the shower is nice and hot. Close to all the shops and things to see. The only thing it's a little bit noisy. To warm up there is a sauna

Highlights: Bilingual, local calling cell phone provided, easy check in, beautiful clean space and wifi! There is nothing bad to say about this place, it truly is a home away from home. Comfortable beds, everything you need (and even things you may have forgotten!) Easy check in. You get a code for the front door and then there is a... More

Wonderful location and beautiful and comfortable room! Everything was perfect. Johannes is a wonderful hosts. You even get a mobile phone to use while you are there. I would definitely go back and highly recommend it for a short stay in Reykjavik.

Our house is very comfortable and relaxed place to stay when visiting Reykjavik. You feel almost like home :) Staff is very friendly and helpful -thank you again, Johannes! We even had a chance to keep our rooms a little bit longer at our leaving day, for free :) Location is perfectly fine. Only thing that wasn't so good, was... More

To start with, check-in was simple. You simply key a code in to get in the front door and then your key is waiting for you inside. There is a full kitchen in case you want to cook. The whole place is absolutely spotless. The guest house has the best location in the town in my opinion. It is a... More

Please note the house has changed colour - here its white, on another site its blue. It is actually ( as of May 2016) yellow! The location couldn't be better and after a night out in Reykjavik I slept really well! But pretty sure the house was quiet. I didn't meet the host as there is a code system to... More

Johannes has great communication and extremely helpful with transport and recommending coffee and thermal spa in town. Space was homey, clean and welcoming. Centrally located between cathedral, shops and harbor. Visit the Nordic House if you like Aalto.

Stayed here for 2 nights recently. The location is perfect. 2-3 minutes walk and you're surrounded by shops, restaurants etc. The guesthouse was very clean and warm. We were out and about so much we never met the owners. So when we arrived we used a code provided in an email to get in and just took a vacant room... More

The price & the location are good. The owner also very welling to support if you need. I like the kitchen & living room where I can hang out with friends. Only one bathroom for 6 rooms (about 15-20PPL) is a little bit not so convenience.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This guesthouse is located right in the city centre, surrounded by quirky little shops, bars, cafés and museums. Kárastígur is a residential downtown side street only a few steps away from the main shopping street and the iconic Hallgrímskirkja church. We call it a guesthouse but you could also call it a hostel or a Bed and breakfast with more emphasis on the bed than the breakfast. We run it but the guests pretty much take care of themselves. You get your own key, the facilities are all included in the price, and all you have to do is make yourself at home. ... more   less
