Excellent experience! We will stay here again on our next trip to Iceland. Conveniently located near the harbour/downtown, spotless, modern, well-appointed with a lovely staff. Suite was spacious for four with in-room climate control, room service for breakfast and a fully equipped kitchen (only made a couple light meals during our week+ stay because restaurant access is very convenient). Rooms are quiet with the windows closed, the pub/bar scene is a few blocks away. Central location allowed doing different activities around town and then meet back at the BP when we wanted. Our tour transportation had no problem pick up in front or across the street in the harbour parking lot. Easily accessible indoor attached parking was a treat so we could venture out and not worry about where to put the car on our return. I already miss starting my day with a Deig donut...

We rented the largest unit in The Black Pearl, a fifth-floor "penthouse" for a group of six adults. The unit provided everything we needed. It was spacious, well-designed and well-furnished. It includes a living room, dining area, full well-stocked kitchen, three bedrooms (two with king-sized beds and one with two twin beds) and two bathrooms. It also has a large wrap-around balcony facing east and south. It is served by a private elevator that requires a fob for use. The bedrooms were quiet at night. There was ample storage space for clothing.
Everything in this unit is completely up-to-date. Bath and bed linens are of high quality. The bathrooms were well stocked with toiletries. The kitchen was also fully stocked with everything needed to prepare and serve full meals.
Each bedroom has a large TV, and there is an even larger one in the living room. All were easy to use. The free wifi was easy to access and always reliable. Controls for lighting and heating were a bit complicated, but once we mastered them they worked well.
The Black Pearl is in an excellent location. Many restaurants, shops and tourist attractions were just a short walk away. This included some relatively large "convenience markets" for food shopping, which served us well for breakfast food and snacks. A stop for the local transit system was also nearby. No need to have your own car!
The hotel staff members are extremely courteous and skilled at helping to solve challenges. The housekeeping service was excellent.
The Black Pearl is expensive, but then everything in Reykjavik is expensive. It's a great place to stay for that "special trip." Ours was a family celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary. When we return to Reykjavik, this will be the first hotel we consider for booking.

Black Pearl Luxury Apartments are fantastic. It's like staying in a luxury 5 star hotel with the freedom of a well equipped high tech apartment all in a perfect location in Reykjavik. The apartment was spotless. The staff were extra helpful and every effort was made to provide a great holiday experience. The kitchen was equipped with modern, quality appliances and the fridge/mini bar was jammed full with stock at very reasonable prices. (see attached photo) We would not consider staying anywhere else next time we visit Reykjavik.

This was our first time staying at the Black Pearl and it did not disappoint. There’s a very good reason there are so many positive reviews!
Everything about the hotel is “thoughtful” - the service, the amenities, the set up of the room. We ordered breakfast one morning and the staff took great care to make sure the table was set up perfectly - they don’t miss a detail at this hotel.
It’s very clean in a very convenient location. What more could you want?

We stayed here pre & post our tour and Black Pearl looked after our suitcase whilst we went on the tour at no cost. The team are friendly, responsive & professional. Our apartment was spacious, clean, practical & central to everything around the city. Highly recommended and preferred over a standard hotel. We brought breakfast from the local supermarket and had freshly brewed coffee. Generous bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and modern living areas. Walking distance to the harbour for tours, restaurants and city shopping. The perfect place to stay where you are squeezed into a small hotel room. Washing facilities available too. We will definitely be back.

We stayed pre and post cruise at the Black Pearl. It is close to the cruise port and with one suitcase it is an easy walk to the ship. Located in the old part of Reykjavik you can walk to numerous restaurants and shops. It is an easy walk to the big church. A very good location. The start at the reservation desk is with a friendly, helpful receptionist who makes you feel comfortable with your hotel choice. The two rooms we had were exceptionally clean and very spacious. A full kitchen allowed us to have breakfast in the room and even a dinner. It is a high tech room with many light controls. Many large windows allowing in the light. A roomy bathroom and luxury bedding. It was a treat to have an elevator entrance to the room with a safety door if that made you more comfortable. Highly recommended and yes, we will stay at the Black Pearl during our next visit.

My wife and I just returned from 12 nights in Iceland, 4 of which were spent at the Black Pearl. Upon early morning arrival in Reykjavik from the US, we didn't mind paying to have access to the room early. The hotel had booked our car transfer from Keflavik Airport which we greatly appreciated. We spent our first 2 nights in room #305 which was a junior suite. We LOVED our room! Very spacious and well-appointed! At the end of our trip, we stayed two more nights but in room #304. It was also a junior suite. The only difference in the rooms was the size of the bedroom. We suggest booking #305 for maximum bedroom walk around space. On both visits, the staff was amazing. The reception desk was manned 24 hours a day which was surprising for a small apartment style hotel. I came down with Covid soon after checking in on the return visit and started to panic. It was my first experience with it and I didn't know if I would need to stay put for 5 days. The staff was very helpful and accommodating and the location near restaurants and the harbor was the best! We would only stay at the Black Pearl on any return visits.

The hotel was noisy with lovely large rooms. We arrived on a 630am flight getting to the hotel around 930. I was sick from food I had eaten the night before at Dulles airport.
I explained that I was sick and asked for a bathroom upon entering. After being sick I returned to the lobby and sat down while my husband finished checking us in. The desk clerk explained that our room was ready but checkin was not until 300pm. She brought me water while I sat on the couch and then asked if we planned on going sightseeing. I read this as a sign that I was not allowed to sit in the lobby as most hotels would allow. When questioned, she stated that we could have the room early for $250. That was the rack rate while Expedia was showing a rate of $178 per night at that time. The charge was $62.50 per hour for early checkin. There was no manager to speak to so we paid the fee. We were staying as Chase Sapphire members.
If you are on a night flight and want to stay here, book the room for the night before to save money or stay at your frequent flier chain hotel for early checkin if the room is ready or at least a place to sit near a bathroom.

Everything about this hotel was absolutely first class. Check in was easy, professional and friendly. Our room was fabulous - spacious, with a modern kitchen and absolutely everything needed for a comfortable stay. We had a separate king size bedroom, and a sofa bed in the sitting room, which was made up for my daughter. Both beds were very comfortable, with the most luxurious pillows I've ever slept on. The room was spotless, and the bathroom modern and roomy. Plenty of fluffy towels, bathrobes and toiletries were provided. The room was rather hot for us, and difficult to regulate as the controls were so hi-tech but this was easily remedied by just opening the patio door slightly. The apartment is situated near the old harbour area and within easy walking distance of all the main shops, bars, restaurants and sights in downtown Reykjavik. It's also closely situated to bus stop 4, which is a pick up for lots of the tours. I would 100 per cent go back to this apartment on any return visit to Reykjavik.

I recently stayed at Black Pearl Apartments for my birthday, and it was pure luxury from start to finish. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring every aspect of my stay was perfect. One unique and delightful touch was the daily Yule Lads scrolls—a charming Christmas story left each night, adding a festive and cosy atmosphere to my stay. Additionally, I was touched by the thoughtful birthday present they left in my room, which made me feel truly special. Black Pearl Apartments exceeded all my expectations, and I can’t recommend them highly enough! The apartment was very impressive with a balcony and sofa bed along with a bedroom. The fridge is stacked with goodies and the prices. A delightful coffee maker, along with pods, was also included. I can not see anyone being disappointed with their stay here.
