I honestly cannot praise this hotel enough. Having stayed in the city before I knew the approximate location I wanted to book in this time and found this hotel on booking.com. We weren't disappointed at all!
The whole place is absolutely immaculately clean and tidy. The housekeepers were round every day offering to change the beds ect. The communal areas were spotless including the shared bathrooms and kitchens.
We stayed in a large double room with views of the city and the catherdral which was amazing, and we had an en suite which was small but functional and spotless.
The location of this hotel is amazing , bus stop 8 which is on all the main routes from the airport and for tours ect is just across the road so really really easy or the bus station is a 10 min walk away. 10 min walk away from the local swimming baths which are geothermally heated so amazing value to go there- we went every day!

There is a bonus supermarket 5 mins walk away which is well stocked and open 7 days a week and lots of smaller food shops scattered all over the town too.
The hotel has kitchens on each floor available to use to all guests and this was so amazing as we could have breakfast and make a packed lunch before we left for the day as food is expensive in Iceland. Again these were kept spotless by other guests and the cleaning team replaced the dishcloth and tea towel every day. You can also leave your food in the fridges too which was a godsend.
We extended our stay at the last minute and reception were really helpful and we managed to keep our room which was really useful.
All in all I could not recommend this hotel more!

Nice guesthouse in center of city. We visited here in July 2022 and had a wonderful stay. Guesthouse was comfortable and provided many amenities, plus it was centrally located. We would stay here again. Below are some details to help future visitors in their trip planning.
Room (good stuff): Comfy beds & pillows; clean; great WiFi; plenty of towels; two chairs and a desk in room; many outlets; windows open (a bit); serviced the room to provide fresh towels and made the bed; black-out curtains; large room and bathroom; extra luggage rack provided upon request; TV; many lights in room including overhead light; hot pot
Breakfast: 7-9:30am; good buffet with many choices and kept well-stocked – cold cereals, canned fruit, hard boiled eggs, homemade bread (sourdough, wheat), sliced cheese and meat, yogurt, fresh apples, juices (orange, apple), coffee, tea (multiple choices)
Awareness: No bath soap, lotion or shampoo provided; smoking area just outside our window (smoke wafted in); shower water sprays everywhere; street noise started early in morning (we expected this since we wanted to be centrally located); parking area small (free)

Guesthouse Sunna. Room was clean beds were comfy, the room was lovely and warm big enough for the two of us. We went for the shared toilet and bathroom option . Had a shared kitchen with everything you need , Breakfast was included in the price was fine enough to choose from. Staff were very nice and helpful nothing to much trouble . The receptionist was very helpful phoned the trip companies for us to change pickup locations so nice . You are around 10 to 15 min walk on to the front but lots of shops cafes around and lovely fish and chips. A great trip will return to Sunna if we return to Icelnand .

This was my first time visiting Iceland and I lucked out picking this Hotel. It was in a perfect location, walking distance to local attractions, the staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable. We stayed in a room with shared bathroom. It had a Shower Room and full kitchen. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, utensils and pots and pans. It was wonderful to be able to cook our own meals. I highly recommend to any traveler and would definitely stay here again.

I arrived in the wee hours of the morning and the staff was wonderful and accommodating. Daily breakfast is good. As a vegetarian options were a little limited but hearty and fresh each day. They let me view two rooms as one was more modern but on the groundfloor and faced the road and one was more quiet and faced a courtyard. I chose the quiet room. I appreciated being given the option. The room was clean, pretty spacious. Shower water was nice and hot with good pressure. Bus stop 8 was a one minute walk which made catching tours and airport transfers very easy. It was an easy walk to shopping and restaurants.

We stayed there for 3 nights. You are right beside the church within easy walking distance to most downtown and harbor attractions, museums, restaurants and bus stops (including #8 for airport and tour buses).

Comfy beds, modern and large bathroom, good size fridge and quiet room despite being so close to the church.

Breakfast was classic for this area with pastry and bread rolls, sliced cheese and ham, jelly, butter, fruits, yogurt, cereal and boiled eggs. Coffee, juice and teas as well. The time was a little shorter than other hotels, from 7:30 to 9:30.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

The WiFi worked most of the time in the room, sometimes we had to go on the side shared balcony or in the lobby.

Yes, I will stay here again.

The best way to describe this hotel would be "adequate". Pros: very centrally located across from Hollgrimskirkja church (which is a spectacular design, by the way). Excellent high speed internet. Warm and comfortable. Two-minute walk from bus stop number 8 (one of the pick up and drop off spots for the airport Flybus). Cons: it's pretty basic. Twin beds (though comfortable), no frills. No room safe (not that you probably need it in Iceland), very basic breakfast (cereal, yogurt, bread, cold cuts and cheese, hard boiled eggs, juice, and mediocre coffee), no little basket of teas and milk in the rooms. Staff are helpful but not exactly warm and welcoming.

Sunna's location and pricing make it a reasonable choice if you don't mind the basic nature of the place, but next time I'd probably search for something with a little more character.

Following a recommendation, I stayed for a couple of nights in Guesthouse Sunna and I was more than happy I chose this place. The location is absolutely superb; right in the heart of Rekjavík, across the big Hallgrimskirkja-church, just a walking distance from one of the bus terminals and also from the domestic airport
The receptionists are extremely friendly and helpful. Beautiful and bright breakfast room, and some gluten-free options on request. The room, with a balcony, was nice and spotlessly clean. Great value for money.
I will certainly come back and strongly recommend Guesthouse Sunna!

Located across the street from Hallgrimskrikja, in the center of town. I’ve stayed in two different room types both with private bathrooms. The first room was a simple room with a tiny bathroom, that I shared with two friends (we each had a twin bed), on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the back of the hotel. The second room I shared with a friend, we both had twin beds, located in a newer part of the hotel with a larger private bathroom and access to the parking lot from the stairwell. Both rooms were good.

We did not order the breakfast as there are so many great spots in Reykjavik to get breakfast (Grai Kotturinn, Café Loki, Brauð & Co are my faves).

Free Parking in the lot is fantastic.

Communication via email before arrival was quick and efficient.

I would stay here again.

My daughter and I returned to Guesthouse Sunna the first week of March 2024 for our fourth stay with them. For us, casual tourists, the location is ideal. It is across the street from the Hallgrimskirkja, the tall church that sits at the top of the hill and overlooks all of Reykjavik. There are outstanding restaurants within a couple of blocks. Bus Stop #8 is across the street from the Guesthouse.
Inside the rooms are modern, roomy and clean. The rooms are grouped in “quads,” with a WC, shower, and kitchenette for each group of three or four rooms. The beds have always been comfortable.
Breakfast is available for an extra charge, and includes bread freshly baked on the premises.

Hi, sorry but I can't help. I am fully vaccinated and had no need to be tested in Iceland. We had a rental car and drived around oursekves. Suggest you contact the guesthouse with your questions. I recall they had information a ailable about tours. Enjoy Iceland!

You will have to check with them directly. Our room had to single beds and there would have been no room for a third. Book directly through them and breakfast is included. I made the mistake of booking third party for the cheaper price and breakfast was excluded and would've been $18 per person extra! Lesson learned.
