Apotek Hotel by Keahotels offers a serene atmosphere with modern, clean rooms that feature luxurious touches like Molton Brown products. Guests frequently commend the attentive and friendly staff, and the hotel's central location is a hit among travelers eager to explore Reykjavík. While the rooms are celebrated for their cleanliness and comfort, some guests suggest they are on the smaller side and lack storage. Despite the high cost of accommodations and dining, including breakfast, the hotel's prime position and amenities, such as the highly praised breakfast buffet, attract numerous positive comments. However, noise from the street and bars at night can be an issue for some visitors.

We loved our stay here. The hotel room was great although some drawer space would have been useful. It was in a perfect location for exploring Reykjavík in the winter and very close to Bus stops 1&3 for your tour pick ups. Breakfast was fabulous and when we stayed never particularly busy. We appreciate the hotels desire to be more green but odd to be asked what days we wanted the room to be serviced. Towels / bedding do not need daily attention but bins emptied, cups and glasses cleaned, coffee replenished should be part of the daily routine and not something you have to request. This being said It did not detract from the stay.

This is our second time staying at Apotek and we can’t say enough good things about it. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant/bar is fantastic. The rooms are so comfortable and cozy- plus the shower is one of the best in a hotel that I’ve experienced!
We stayed last year for our wedding with several members of our family and friends. Everyone had the same great experience. This year we stayed for our 1 year anniversary. I had asked if they could recommend a bakery to order a cake to help us celebrate. They went above and beyond and not only found a great bakery, but actually ordered it for us and had it delivered to the hotel. The morning our our anniversary they set up a celebratory table with a card wishing us a happy anniversary, and of course, the delicious cake.
We can’t wait to spend more visits with Apotek- we wouldn’t stay anywhere else!

Absolutely recommend! The location is fantastic, staff are so friendly & professional, the room is perfect. Booked a small single room, it's clean, well-appointed, exactly as shown on the site.

A ten minute walk from most places, I felt perfectly safe walking alone (female) in the wee hours, and appreciated that there was a 24-hour market, and late-night kebab shop very close by, in addition to its close proximity to museums, galleries, Harpa, etc.

The street is lively on the weekends, there's a marketplace with booths offering food, drink, and merchandise in a park across the street, lit up beautifully with lights. Lots of restaurants, bars, clubs on the streets nearby - I'm a night owl and loved walking around watching the revellers, as roads were closed to vehicles. My room was surprisingly quiet, there was a little bit of bass from a nearby club on the Saturday night, but I come from a far noisier city - this was easily drowned out by my own music played on the wireless speaker provided in the room. I'd worried a little bit, having read other reviews complaining, but this didn't bother me in the slightest. I found the vibe added to my experience.

I opted in to the breakfast buffet, and enjoyed it. The food in Reykjavik is expensive everywhere, I'd worried I'd regret spending the extra on this, but I'm glad I did. Excellent selection of good food, plenty available even up to end of service. I was able to have a small amount of a lot of things, where if I'd gone out into the city I'd have spent about the same for a single choice. I'd have a good breakfast, then pick up fruit and small snacks at grocers for lunch. Lots of variety of restaurants nearby for dinner, ranging from affordable carts to fancy dining.

I've travelled a fair bit, stayed in a broad range of places from hostel to 4 stars, and I love this place. If (when) I come back to Reykjavik I'd book here again without hesitation, and have already recommended it to friends.

Special shout-out to Danielle at the front desk for being a superstar, on a squad of stars. Thank you to everyone at Apotek for making this element of my trip worry-free, and spectacular.

Hotel located in the city center, it is quite expensive. There is some comfort, charm and an ideal location with all amenities nearby. On the other hand, it is regrettable to have only a dozen English and Icelandic TV channels, no European channels (France 24, TV 5 monde, and other countries of the world). On arrival, tea bags but no kettle, room 502 is very noisy at night because a pub is at the bottom of the building. The restaurant is plentiful with a buffet for breakfast but do not come late because 20 minutes before the end of the service, the waiters start tidying up. In the evening, the restaurant is good but remains very expensive and extremely noisy. The staff at the front desk is lovely.

This is a perfiect location for downtown Reykjavik - near to the main tour pick-up bus stops, and within an easy walk of the sea front and many eateries. We came on a Jet2 package, so our breakfasts were included, and we just wished we had had room to try everything on offer. One evening we ate in the same hotel restaurant. The food, is absolutely top notch, but pricey. We were certainly well looked after and would stay again without question.

The room itself was very clean and comfortable. The bed comfort was average. The water pressure in the shower was very good and there was also a towel warmer. The only improvement the room could really use is a few more outlets, especially near the bed.

The staff we interacted with were all very friendly and very responsive to our needs. When arriving in the early morning, they stored our bags for us and took them to our room so they were waiting for us when our room was ready, which they called & emailed us to let us know it was ready.

The location is fantastic, right in the center of Reykjavik. The hotel itself has no parking, but it is pretty close to the Ráðhúsið parking garage.

This hotel is in a great location, on a fairly quiet square which also houses some pubs and a parliament building, next door to the Borg Hotel and very close to both Bus Stop 3 (where a lot of the organised trips pick up), as well as one of the main streets with bars and restaurants.
All through our stay, every staff member we met seeemed genuinely friendly and welcoming. We stayed for 4 nights in Room 403, had a fantastic time and lteraly fell into a very large and comfortable bed every night after long days travelling &/or walking round the many sights. The temperature in the room was fine, very little noise despite the very central location and the walk-in shower was really good with none of the localised flooding that we have sometimes experienced in the rest of the bathroom space. No kettle but a Nespresso machine with plenty of pods, some teabags and some creamer.
Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of fresh fruit, cheeses, meat, fish, various breads, waffles, pancakes and loads of baked goods, really enjoyed the Skyr with fresh fruit and teh smoked salmon! Only downside I can think of is the toaster wasn't great and took ages to get the bread even remotely browned, can't be very efficient! Didn't have an evening meal here, but it was very busy every night. All in all a fabulous break and though we may not return to Iceland for a while (having crammed in a lot into a short break), we would recommend staying here without hesitation.

Myself and my partner have just returned from our 3rd stay at Apotek having first travelled in 2019, 2020 and this past weekend. The service, food, cocktails and decor at Apotek never disappoint.

We had tasting menus at 2 other restaurants in addition to Apotek & Apotek’s tasting menu food & wines topped the other Michellin star restaurant.

The hotel is ideally situated in the heart of Reykjavik yet the rooms are so quiet, nicely decorated & stocked with Molton Brown products. The bus station to tourist spots (Sky Lagoon, Blue Lagoon, Northern Lights tour, Golden Circle Tour etc) with Reykjavik Tours is just a 15min walk from the hotel or you can hop on a local bus 2mins walk at bus stop #3.
Favourite bars Sweet Pig, Dillons Whiskey Bar, Einstok, Kaffibarin are within 10min walk. Whale Watching down by the harbour is 15mins walk.

We’re looking forward to retuning in summer ‘25 for a week long road trip, starting & ending our stay at Apotek. A lovely hotel in a great city.

Needed a hotel for our last night in Reykjavic and Apotek was available. I was familiar with its location, and we got a decent rate for their standard room with king bed.

You can pull right up to the front of this hotel (seasonal) to drop you bags. It is a very old building. Room was on the 5th floor and it was nice though very small. Bed was comfortable. No USB ports in the room. There is a small fridge, espresso maker, robe and slippers too. Small desk with a chair, and one other table and chair by the window. The bathroom was very nice except for the doorless shower that got water about one foot outside the shower. Shampoo, conditioner and body was in the very nice and powerful shower. Several times the warm water would get cooler and then go back to hot. Towel warmer!

We could not figure out how to adjust the temperature of the room with the radiator and its numbered handle. It just didn't get cooler.

We did the breakfast buffet one other day here, and it was quite good though pricey (as are most meals/drinks in Iceland). We enjoyed cocktails one evening too. They do offer a happy hour as well.

Most downtown hotels do not have a parking area so you have to go to a paid public parking deck. But the location of Apotek/Hotel Borg/Hilton Parliament, etc. in this area is really excellent. You can walk to so many stores and eateries.

Glad we got to try it out.

Great location. For the four nights we stayed there, we mostly used Apótek as a base so did not spend much time in the hotel itself. Lovely room and although facing onto the square, we were high enough not to hear noise. At 35eur per person, we opted to explore Reykjavík for breakfast instead which felt like the right choice as there’s plenty of options around! We did head into the restaurant one night but didn’t book for dinner so enjoyed a couple of cocktails which were fantastic. There is public parking outside and we were lucky enough to have a spot waiting for us each time we needed to park. One small criticism, and appreciate that this isn’t for everyone, but although the room had signs about being eco-conscious and would only swap towels if they were on the floor, we came back each day to a full set of new towels despite us following the sign. I’m okay with being given new towels, but don’t like the “eco-conscious” approach with signs but no follow through.
