I traveled to Iceland with my fiance and our toddler and used this as our home base for the week. We really wanted a place with a kitchen and a place for us to hang out after his early bedtime, so this apartment was perfect for that. We were able to make many of our meals in, use the washer dryer (thankfully manuals for all appliances were in one of the kitchen drawers), and hang out in the living room while he slept in the bedroom. The location of this place is great - right on the main street. I agree with the reviews that the provided directions could be a little better. Basically look for the small tunnel next to the IceMart that's right at the bottom of the Rainbow Street and go through it, and there you are! This is not a luxury hotel, as some other reviews seem to have expected, but it's a perfectly serviceable and clean apartment in a great location.
Cons: No on-site parking. We had no problems finding free parking by the school near Hallgrimskirja and walking, and we also quickly loaded and unloaded in the parking lot right on premises (which I think is for the restaurant and that's why you can't park there). MINOR concern because I brought my own- The bathroom only had sets of shampoo and conditioner, no body wash.
Pros: Self check in was easy and allowed us to check in early in the morning upon arrival (we booked the evening before to ensure we could check in). The location is great. We didn't find it to be too loud, but had brought a small sound machine from home for the baby so that might have something to do with it. We loved having a washer/dryer and dishwasher and small kitchen to use. The shower has GREAT water pressure!!! We loved the clean and bright Kronan grocery store right around the corner.
Overall this was a great stay and I would return to this location!

Great location right in the town centre, ideal if you want to go shopping, be close to the mai restaurants and bars, take a bus and go site seeing or just take a walk along the beach. The downside could be that it can be very noisy at nights especially in the weekends when everybody is out partying. If you are a light sleeper this might be a slight issue. For us it was not that big of a problem.
We had a superior apartment that was spacious, clean and with fully equipped kitchen. Supermarket just around the corner if you prefer to cook rather than go out. The agency renting it out has very nice and pleasant staff and they are quick at answering calls and solving issues
I would have given 5 stars had it not been for 2 things: 1) apartment supposed to have a private balcony which is not actually private but shared with someone next door. So you can easily end up (like I did) with your neighbour deciding to go out and smoke and just coming into your side of the balcony to close your windows that you opened for fresh air. I am sure this could be fixed with some separators? 2) the instructions for the rules do the house including rubbish disposal that are displayed in the apartments are out of date and refer to things that are no longer valid. The check out time is different than the one you are given by the agency for example. Similarly the way to open the garbage bins outside are also out of date which might be the cause of some guests leaving the garbage next to the bins or on top of them
All in all though was a great stay and would book it again

The location was perfect in that in was in the heart of Reykjavik - shops, restaurants, and a block away from a main bus pick up stop (#6) for tours. Bad thing was it was close to everything including bars and on Saturday night, it was pretty loud till about 2/3 am. Weeknights were fine for us, probably more noise from fighting seagulls than rowdy people.

The apartment itself was difficult to find since it was behind the main building, through a short alley be tween the Vietnamese restaurant and gift shop. We asked a local at the gift shop to locate it. And despite there being graffiti on the walls, we never felt unsafe and have returned past midnight before.

We stayed in #301, third floor apartment that was basically a studio with 2 twin beds, a sofa bed, small round table with a few chairs, microwave, dishwasher, clothes washer/dryer combo, all utensils/settings. There’s also a small balcony shared with the apartment next to us.

The exterior and apartment doors were accessible via codes. Great because no keys are needed, but could be tricky to unlock. An alarm will sound after a few incorrect attempts.

The apartment looked great. Simple, neutral colors.

We couldn’t figure out whether the place was cleaned though since one twin bed sheet had a little stain and one of the pillowcase had a little something stuck to it. And it didn’t smelled fresh, though could be it hasn’t been booked in a while?

We only slept there and didn’t use any of the appliances, including the coffee maker, so don’t know if they worked or if they supplied detergents.

We did notice that there’s a note you had to empty trash under the sink.

The spots on our sheet and the one pillowcase were not confirmed or enough to be a big concern for us.

Overall, we liked the place mostly for convenience. But if you’re a light sleeper, this might not be a good choice.

Also want to note they were very responsive via email.

And lastly, on street parking which you’ll need to download app to pay between 9 am and 6 pm.

This is a clean, comfortable appartment hotel with very central location. The only downside is that there’s quite a lot noise from the close by bar and the Laugavegur pedestrian street. During the weekends this lasts until 5 am or so. They provide you earplugs but if you’re a light sleeper and not going to party all night, this might be something to think of.

The apartments are in a great location and are well equipped including a kitchen with everything you need to prepare meals. My biggest concern was the smell in the apartment, especially from the bedroom. It had a strong smell of cigarette smoke which seemed to linger all through the bedding. I tried to air the room out as much as I could but the balcony is shared with next door so for security reasons you can’t leave open when not there, it also didn’t help that the next door neighbour was smoking on the shared balcony. The apartments do have a no smoking rule but looks like not everyone follow the rules. I did contact the hosts via email but regarding the smell but didn’t hear back anything. There wouldn’t have been much they could do but just let them know so they could try and fix before the next guests. I probably wouldn’t stay here again as was quite expensive and the smell really was not pleasant.

If you expect to get what you paid for, better book a somewhere else.
Made a reservations here well in advance. The reservation confirmation clearly stated 2 apartments on the top floor. When we got check-in instructions, one was for an apartment on the bottom floor and one was on the first floor.
When I told them it was a mistake, they said that they can't change it since they are already fully booked, no compensation, no money back.
Don't know about you, but I expect to get what I have paid for. and not spend my vacation in a place that does not fit my needs, feeling I've been cheated, and that he who paid in advance gets the worst apartment.
Yes, it might not happen to you, some people obviously got decent apartments, but why take the chance? there are plenty of other nice accommodations in Reykjavik that are actually run by honest people.

Stayed at the Ice Apartments for 3 nights in Feb (2 adults, 2 children). Great location in the centre of Reykjavík. Apartment was clean, beds were comfy (even the sofa bed). Everything we needed - spacious bathroom, kitchen with tea/coffee, fridge, hob and even a washing machine. Staff were friendly and able to answer any questions we had. Would highly recommend!

The information we received was lacking and so we had to hunt for the place since it is located within a city block but does not have an entrance that is visible from the street; you've got to go through a passageway in another building that faces a street in order to reach this place.

It was was cheap and clean but visually sterile, like a school dormitory room. The instructions for the television were unworkable. We ended up unable to use it. Likewise for the washer-dryer. The Ikea pictograms didn't enable a trouble-free wash. In the end, it wasn't worth the trouble. We've stayed in other Reykjavik apartments before that were nicer but just weren't available on this trip. We'll avoid this place next time.

Loved this place , though we had to pay 20 euro to get to check in before 1 PM. The apartment was very nice. I would recommend the breakfast option as it's great value though you have to walk a few blocks. The apartment is right behind the main street so you have access to a lot bbnof bars and restaurants

Not sure about the parking. As it’s just behind the Main Street, there maybe some parking behind the apartments. They really are in a great location and very clean. Enjoy your stay 😊

If you need to check out early, you can drop your keys at the IceMart store (the same place you pick them up). Otherwise, I believe you can leave them in the room, but don’t quote me on that.

No elevator. People with mobility issues might consider staying elsewhere; stairs are unavoidable at the Ice Apartments.
