Our stay was fantastic. Would give Alissa 10 stars if possible. She is the hostess with the mostest. Flexible with breakfast times with a new delicious creation every morning. This little gem is unique with it's antiques etc. Walking distance to restaurants and the water....Lock 18 on Trent system. We will return.
Our room was made up for us early as we were coming in for a funeral service and needed to change after a long drive. Elise was very accommodating and cooked us the most incredible filling breakfast the next day to send us off right! Lovely room, everything was thought of and what we needed was provided with a smile 😊 thanks so much!! Beautiful and relaxing outdoor space to lounge. Just down the road from the waterfront, shopping, LCBO and restaurant/ coffee shops. Great deal.
Needed a local location for 2 day stay. Hastings House fit the Bill. Elise was a great host and prepared a very nice breakfast. When I had challenges finding a basketball game she let me use the living room TV to watch my Raptors. Also recommended the Captains Table as a restaurant which had excellent Fish and chips. Accommodation- the Safari Room - was great space with nice ensuite bathroom. Thx
What a pleasant experience in a B&B. Elise, was very welcoming and helped us with all our needs. Awesome breakfasts. Asked what we would like, and she obliged. Nice dining table, beautiful presentation and delicious breakfasts.
MY gf and I had a nice time here. The owner had an emergency to deal with, and so when we arrived, she was not there. But she left us a detailed note explaining which room was ours, and the keys. We had no problem getting settled in. Our room ("Asian Room") was simple but clean. Two relatively minor problems of note: the window-mounted air conditioner was right beside the bed, and had an extremely loud condenser. I switched it to fan mode, and since it was a chillier night, it wasn't a problem. But if it was sweltering and you needed the A/C, it's going to be noisy. Other issue was the hot water: it eventually stabilizes, but you have to run the shower for a few minutes before it does so. In the morning, I woke to the smell of fresh bacon. Heading downstairs we met the owner, who was quite nice. The breakfast served was EXTREMELY tasty: toast, delicious jam, eggs cooked to order (with nifty little spices), savory bacon, a home-made salad of peppers and tomatoes, fruit, and yogurt with granola. It was great and we got to chat with the other guests over the meal. If you're in the area, this is a good place to stay :)…
I have to the say that the experience we had upon arriving to this B&B was so unsatisfactory that we did not stay. In advance we had called to confirm our reservation, and we said we would arrive at 4. When we arrived there was no one there. We called numerous times to inquire where they might be and no one called us back. We waited in the drive way for 45 mins. I looked in the windows, and the front rooms were crammed with junk and had layers of dust all over them. The grass was not cut, and the house did not have a welcoming feel to it. When the lady did arrive, she stepped out of her car and said "Do we have a Problem?" No sorry for being late, just excuses about traffic, well we had gone through traffic too. When I went in the house you could see that the clutter was evident and the house looked not taken care of. We did not stay and I would not recommend this B&B, there are other places to spend your money.…
Friendly host, nice room. I haven't stayed in many B&Bs but this time I had to, as all the chains in the area were booked. A little far from Peterborough but well worth the trip. Room was nicely furnished and the adjoining bathroom served the purpose. Bed was very comfortable. Surrounding area is picturesque and one can easily walk into town or out into the country, depending whether you turn right or left coming out the front door. Host was very accomodating and courteous. I'll definitely be going back.
This is a quiet bed and breakfast with a view of the river and within walking distance of everything. The inn keeper, Elise, is a very friendly woman who makes all welcome. We would return for a visit and a stay again and will in the future. The rooms are bright and clean and very comfortable. The breakfasts are prepared by Elise each morning and are served with homemade jams. I am not a breakfast person but woke up early to get done for breakfast each morning. I can not say enough about Elise, her little dog Jessie and the Hastings House Bed and Breakfast. We will be returning when we need a break from the every day grind and want a quiet relaxing atmosphere to recharge our batteries.
We arrived VERY late on our first night, but Elise was very understanding and made us comfortable in our room (we had the one with the en-suite and king bed). She made sure to find out what time we wanted breakfast- I felt so bad asking her to accommodate our early start next day after such a late arrival, but nothing was too much trouble. Very good breakfast both mornings, including home grown ingredients. I don't think Elise had a clue how much we appreciated her generosity. I hope we can go back soon, and definitely recommend this lovely B&B.
I had the pleasure of having an extended stay at the Hastings House while spending time in the area on business. I stayed for 18 nights over three weeks in September 2014. Elise, the inn keeper, was an amazing host. She was up early preparing breakfast every morning even though I had to leave for work at 6am. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The bathrooms had more towels and toiletries than I could have used in all 18 nights. The wifi was fast and consistent. And the satellite radio hard wired into built in speakers was a nice touch. I would recommend a stay with Elise (and Jesse, the dog) to anyone.
