Excellent, generous servings. on the balcony. Attentive service. One of the best views over harbour and 3 cities. Wine list a bit more expensive than in the laneways but view is worth it. Martin a very pleasant waiter not too intrusive but attentive

Don’t get this confused with the far superior British Suites. They are both in the same building, but the British Hotel was very basic. The room was dark and outdated, which wasn’t actually a major problem, until a very large cockroach made itself at home on my second to last day

I am sorry about your experience however I am sure that the insect you managed has nothing to do if you stay in the hotel or in our suites which are in the same building. We offer rooms and suites at the same location. It depends on the requirements that the client wants to have and is ready to pay for but I assure you these things are sometimes beyond control especially when one leaves open windows . The extra charge that you paid was simply for upgrading from a standard room to a superior suite room.

On a positive note the hotel is clean and in an area that can be described as bohemian, the rooms are clean but very basic unless you upgrade to a room with a view, it’s an excellent base to see Valletta, the staff are friendly and attentive and the restaurant was excellent both

thanks for the review. However I always put that the hotel is not user friendly so I would appreciate where you saw it advertised so I can correct it. I always inform people staying here that its not user friendly . I also tell them that Valletta is also hard to get about as its full of steps and hills. I can accommodate people who can manage to walk few steps and close the wheelchair to put into the lift but if one is totally bound to a wheelchair then I do not accept them as ;like you said the hotel is a very old building , and it cannot be converted to cater for people with disabilities unfortunately

This very basic hotel has a great view and the reception staff were helpful but that’s the only redeeming
features, Rooms are old fashioned small and reminded us of a boarding school room from the 70’s.
Beds uncomfortable and WiFi useless. Simply NOT worth the money they charge,

Thanks for your review. The location and view is our main reason people stay here. We are a 2 star hotel and our rooms have the amenities needed for your stay based on our classification but if one wants to be more comfortable and enjoy a luxury room with all amenities , inc self catering facilities then we have the new suites which have recently opened. Its all a question of what one wants to have and pay..the only thing I m sure is that the hotel and suites are situated overlooking one of Malta s best spots.. The Grand Harbour..

What is the food like these days?
Not sure - have not been back in 2017. I suspect though that your best bet is to eat out.

Dear Ms Katti I thank you for your understanding and comments and am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. Like you said there are many places for breakfast ,lunch or dinner near the hotel so it should not be a problem . The rooms are still being rented as the refurbishing is being done only in public areas behind closed doors and do not affect most of the rooms. I still would like to excuse us for any inconvenience but after all it is being done to improve services and facilities for our future guests . It will be worth the wait Im sure ..thanks again David Montebello
