If you stay in Hallstatt (which you should since it’s a beautiful place!) I would highly recommend staying here. I stayed for 3 nights. It’s close to town and the train station (via the ship across the lake), right next to the bus station, the beds are comfortable, the breakfast is excellent and brought right to your room, the host is the nicest person you’ll meet. Ask her for the map of the hiking trail in the hills behind Hallstatt. Just beautiful! WiFi worked well in room too. All around great place.
The host has rules but all for good reason so I mean that in a good way. The place is absolutely immaculate. I must rate this as one of the best places we've stayed at. Comfortable and quiet with great views. The town is only a few steps away yet the location is away from the crowded streets. Maria and her family were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast on the patio was excellent. Overall this was a great stay at an excellent Gasthaus.
We had a nice room overlooking the street, just a short 2 minute stroll to the touristy part of town, one block back from the lake, very near to Italian restaurant, salt mines and supermarket. The room was nice and the owners were very friendly. Breakfast was standard Austrian fare, fresh meats, fresh cheese, fresh bread and fresh coffee. Great value.
Maria is an amazing host and a very warm lady. We had a blast of a time during our stay here. The view from room showed mountains with clouds floating on them. The place is very beautiful. The house is very close to salt mines tour start. The breakfast buffet was nice and coffee was brilliant :)
Lovely B&B with a very attentive Maria. House is spotless and breakfast is served in garden when possible. Could have done with a full length mirror somewhere, but it was not a problem. Location is excellent. Thank you!
I did not originally book a room at Haus Trausner, but was given a room here due to a mix-up at the guesthouse I booked. I really enjoyed my stay here! Maria was a lovely host, very friendly and constantly checking if everything was okay and if you were comfortable. Wifi was available if you needed it, a plug-in router was provided for me. I had a room with an ensuite toilet. The room was spacious with a small dining area, electric kettle and towels provided. The beds were comfortable and there was a nice mountain view. The shower was however located outside of the toilet (insufficient space there). There was a shower screen, but if you were staying with someone, I could imagine it might be awkward when you have to open it. Wasn't an issue for me though as I was staying alone. No lift was available so if you were travelling with large suitcases it may be a little problematic, however I'm sure you'll have the help you need :) There were a number of house rules, which I actually appreciated as it made the stay great for everybody. The location was also perfect, just a short walk from Hallstatt Lahn where the bus stop is.…
Haus Trausner located near bus stop, supermarket and Funicular station.(10-15 min walk from Ferry) Room is comfort and breakfast is really good. House's owner also very friendly. Highly recommend if you want to stay at Hallstatt.
While in Hallstatt my wife and I were fortunate to stay at Privatzimmer Maria Trausner-Steinböck. It was the perfect choice for us. We arrived by car and Maria's house was an easy destination, one of the few places to stay in Hallstatt that has parking immediately adjacent to the lodging. Our room was on the third floor of the house, a bit of a climb with luggage but Maria and her husband were very helpful. The room was large and comfortable with a shower in the room and a separate bathroom. Everything is very clean and very well cared-for. The bed was comfortable and the room very quiet. Maria arrived at our door each morning with breakfast and a willingness to help us plan our day. She was always gracious and helpful. There are rules of decorum, some written and some not, but this is Austria after all. The house is nicely located, not in the center of town (an advantage) but very close. Hallstatt is lovely, much to see and do (don't miss a ride up the Dachstein Krippenstein cable car and a walk around the top of the mountains, also the trip up the funicular to look down on Hallstatt is well worth the time.) However, it is a World Heritage Site and the tour busses arrive early and leave late. The town itself is best visited in the early morning and the late evening. Restaurant choices are not plentiful, but we had an excellent meal the last night of our stay at Seehotel Grüner Baum. …
Overall, this place was a good value and nice place to stay in Hallstatt. It is centrally located and within easy walking distance of everything. However, be aware of what you are getting. This house isn't really set up to be a B&B. Maria Trausner rents rooms located on the third floor of her house. These rooms have a shower located awkwardly inside the room, but all rooms share a WC located in the hallway. It was a bit odd, but didn't create much of an issue. The rest of the house is closed off to guests. Breakfast is served at an outside garden table if the weather is nice. It is served in your room if it is raining. Staying here was like staying at my mother's house. Be quiet and follow a bunch of rules. Not that the rules were crazy-there were just a bunch of them.
Maria is very friendly, always ready to help, gives you useful information and tips about where and when to go, which restaurant to visit. If you driving--- free parking spot in front of her house. The breakfast was very good and plenty. Room very clean and comfortable. Bus stop, supermarket -- 2 min walk, the center of Hallstatt about 10 min walk.Highly recommend this B&B .
