Everything was absolutely perfect! The accomodation is very clean and in a great location. Close to the shop, the bus stop and the town centre itself. The lake is a minute walk away. All the staff were nice and helpful. It is possible to buy breakfast for 12€ per person - which is buffet style and everything is fresh and absolutely delicious. Definitely recommending! :)
We stayed at the Gasthof Bergfried at the end of September. Our room was on the 2nd floor, overlooking the funicular. It was very quiet at night, and the room was cute and cozy. The room had no A/C, no facial tissues, no coffee, tea or cups (although there was a hot water kettle). The bed was comfortable. There was a small table with chairs, and a TV in the room. We could walk everywhere, and it was about a 10 minute walk from the ferry. It was very comfortable for a 1 night stay. The front desk is only open from 9am-7pm.
We loved staying here and had a hard time wanting to leave. The rooms were clean and the balconies are had stunning views. We stayed in one apartment in addition to a regular double room, both having great views. Located right next to the funicular to the salt mines and around the corner from the market. Just a couple minutes walk to the main streets of Hallstatt. The breakfast was not worth the cost, but we would definitely stay here again.
Unexpected but a pleasant surprise. For starters, this is not a hotel, so do not have too many expectations from the property. It is also expensive for the services it provides. Yet I rate it highly because for one, everything is Hallstatt is expensive and two, this place has an amazing location. It is a 2 minute walk from the famous salt mines, 1 min walk from the city bus station, 1/2 minute walk from a super market and 10 minutes from the village center. The check in process is smooth although they are fixated on the check out time and you might not get an early check in or check out as rooms are mostly full during the tourist season. One major drawback is that they do not have table fans and it was difficult to sleep as it got really hot without any ventilation in the room. We did have a balcony but dint want to keep it open due to flies and other crawlies entering from the vegetation outside. All in all a very good stay! Breakfast is cheaper than going out and eating. So do take it. …
We stayed here a couple of days last month when we visited Hallstatt. It's a nice and cosy place only 10-minutes walk from Hallstatt village. Though it's just one road away from the main road, it was really quiet. especially at night. They had helpful staff. The supermarket and bakery were nearby. It' handy and affordable location to see the main sights of Hallstatt
A little tricky to find but as you come through the tunnel you should immediately turn right after the zebra crossing and the lane will take you to the hotel and parking. I have to say the location was good with free parking just outside the town. The supermarket was steps away and there was a bakery just a few steps into town. The rooms were fairly basic but had the bare essentials. Hallstatt seems to be an expensive resort, we paid less for a very nice hotel in Salzburg. I guess if we come back we would take a day trip from Salzburg.
We found the staff here very friendly and only too happy to help with any enquiries. The view outside our room was just amazing and it was only a short walk to the centre of Hallstatt. The breakfast was 9 euros each extra, but we didn't bother with that.
7 friends and family stayed here for a week. We based ourselves in Hallstatt, as it is very central to all of the amazing walks in the area. During the week here we have walked close to 150 Klm. The buses leave 60 metres from our apartment. We found the drivers very helpful. The pension has a number of double rooms and 2 amazing apartments, which we had, a well set out kitchen with fridge, micro wave and all of the crockery and cutlery required for 5 people. It is spacious with a good size living room. Breakfast is available either as part of your package or €10 if you want the odd buffet style breakfast. There is an amazing bakery a few minutes away and a well stocked supermarket almost next door. We loved our stay here, the staff very friendly and helpful.
Many reasons motivate this bad review: 1. The lady at the reception is rather nervous and not friendly. She will make you a long speech in order to give you information about the place. She won’t stop even if you try. Until she hasn’t finished the cataract of useless data she won’t admit any questions or interruptions. You won’t even understand most of what she said. 2. Our room was simple, basic . Quite large by European standards. Furniture was rustic. Comfortable beds. Problem with electric lights: the lamp by your bedside will always bother any other person trying to sleep in the bed next to yours. There is no waste paper basket so keep your litter in your own luggage. No one will clean up your room, there is no house service. 3. The bathroom was tiny and very uncomfortable. Built in shower, a metal case with plastic sliding doors :?absolutely disgusting. The basin was so small that washing your teeth was an issue. Terrible towels . If you can put up with this , you will find a reasonable breakfast (for which you must pay extra money). I warn everybody to stay away from this place.…
This is a bit of a saga but I'll stick to the facts: 1) in January 2019 we booked this guesthouse in Hallstatt Austria through Booking dot com for July 2019. 2) The next day the owner contact us directly and writes "cancel at Booking and book directly with me and I can give you a better rate." I knew she was trying to snake out of Booking's fees, but figured it would be fine and didn't want to get on her bad side by refusing. 3) We cancelled with Booking, booked with her through the credit card submit link she provided. 4) In early July a week from our stay (the next communication) we get an email from her stating that we need to decide on paying for breakfast right then or there would be no later opportunity. Fair enough. 5) 34 hours later I politely reply "breakfast 1st of 2 nights only please." 6) a few hours later she emails that she's cancelled our reservation and the room is rebooked and no longer available. Wasserman says the expiration date on my credit card was listed as 1/19. She says good luck finding somewhere else to stay. 7) I am now screwed, Hallstatt is sold out except for a $500 a night double room with a bed wheeled in for my little girl. My family is trekking through the mountains and we'll arrive in Hallstatt on foot. Out entire vacation is based around walking to Hallstatt through the mountains. I explain all this to Wasserman and ask her to reinstate our reservation. She says it was my mistake entering the wrong date so nope, your screwed. But I entered that date correctly I think. Even if I didn't, I have no way to know as her system did not give me a receipt. I figure that A) it's crazy that her credit card email software will take an incorrect number and then it (and she, in her follow up email) will tell me everything is good to go and I'm booked. And B) that if it did somehow list expiration as 1/19 instead of the correct date on 2020 I think I entered, the first time she checks any of this is 5 days before we arrive, and then she instantly cancels me. This woman told me to cancel my totally secure booking with Booking dot com, then told me everything was great and we're good to go, and then totally hosed me, my wife and our little girl at the last minutes WITH ZERO EFFORT TO EVEN CONTACT US TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. SHE JUST CANCELLED US WITHOUT NOTICE DAYS BEFORE OUR ARRIVAL. After pleading with her to help us out in some way, maybe even through a local referral, and nothing but sorry, take a hike from Wasserman, I told her I'd write a bad review and report her to Booking dot com. Then all of a sudden she starts with "I suggested other places to you," which is an utter and outright lie - I have every email and she did nothing at all to try to help us. She utterly, totally unsympathetic until I told her I'd report her and review her badly, then she got whiny. My very strong suspicion is that a better guest came along who would bridge some vacany she had for an extra day or two and Wasserman acted unethically for the seconds time and kicked us out of our reservation. I should have known better when she told me to cancel and fully secure booking and rebook directly, but thought it would be okay. As a result we had to abort our year long plan to visit Hallstatt and hike elsewhere last minute. We love Austria and Austrians - have spend 50 nights in the past 5 years, have strong Austrian heritage, and have never encountered an Austrian hotel-keeper even remotely this greedy, unethical, lazy and unkind. Thank goodness that Austrians are wonderful people and that there are precious few like Anke Wasserman.…
