Beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms on a beautiful lake. There seems to be a theme here. If you are looking for beauty, look no further. Location of the hotel is perfect, right on the lake in the heart of Hallstatt. Views everywhere. The staff was friendly and check-in and check-out were a breeze. The room was huge, with an even bigger outdoor deck. The views were stunning - absolutely incredible! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large with a nice soaking tub. There was plenty of storage for all of your luggage. Outside the room, the halls were nicely decorated and everything was kept sparkling clean. There isn't one thing that could be changed to make this even better - just about perfect when it comes to hotels.
We stayed over at the Heritage Hotel, whilst ambling around the hotel view of the lake and on the streets of Hallstatt, we chanced on Seehotel Grüner Baum restaurant. It has great ambience, decor European. We had Kasespatzle gratinie, Beef Gulasch-Spatzle, Schw Braten-Knodel (roasted Alpine pork) and Saibling (Char fish) with Lime Risotto. I say the Char fish probably the best of the lot, perhaps we ont used to the Austrian cuisine. Maisel's Weisse Hell Austrian wheat bier
Stayed during October 2022. It was a surprise room upgrade to Double Room with a balcony to the lake. Room was spacious & clean, double bed was very comfortable, bathroom come with many amenities, bath tub and hot shower. Others facilities included in the room such as TV, coffee makers. The highlight of the room should be the balcony with the grand lake view which is most unforgettable during this stay. Absolutely perfect view, peaceful and calm. Most important is I can enjoy the view without the tourist crowd. Simply wonderful! Location is very good, in front of the market square and near to ferry port. Staff is friendly and helpful. Thanks for the upgrade, appreciate so much.
We went for a mid-day meal, had Aglio Olio and it tasted delicious! The restaurant is located towards the water and it is a beautiful view. The sitouts are good. Did not stay here but could have, looked like a really pretty boutique hotel.
Hallstatt is a special place and staying at the Gruener Hotel makes the visit unforgettable. It’s definitely worth booking a room with a lake view! Ours (#204) had a balcony and the view was amazing! The restaurant is good and service friendly
We arrived late morning, understanding that we would not most likely get in the room. However, the girl who checked us in was unfriendly and not at all welcoming. We asked if she could change a 5 euro bill for coins and she said no, go to an atm. Another girl working at the reception desk offered to make change for us. The Hotel’s location is great. Our room with a balcony facing the lake was absolutely perfect. We assumed because there was a fan in the room, there is no air conditioning. We requested 2 bed sheets, which a lovely girl brought up immediately, since it was too warm for the heavy duvet and we were fine. We had dinner in their dining room and very much enjoyed our meal. I wish I could say the same for breakfast. It seemed, except for us, the hotel was booked by a large tour group. Unfortunately, for us, they all arrived for breakfast just before we did at 8:30 am. The hotel staff was totally unprepared. There was virtually no food available, it took over 30 minutes for my husband to even get his coffee. Eventually, they refilled the basic food offerings which were still disappointing. Not the best start to our morning.…
Beautiful cosy hotel with the greatest scenery. Facing the lake on one side and the market place on the other side it has a lot of authenticity. You feel you are hosted in a charming house with flower vases on tables decorating the floors . With its refined food and service too, I believe it has the best location in this wonderful small city that is Hallstatt
Lovely Hotel facing the lake. We only stayed one night but it was clean and comfortable. Great location near Market Square and very good restaurant. Nice patio facing the lake. Recommend taking a boat ride.
My wife, two year old and I stayed at the Seehotel for one night in Sept 2022. We were very sad that we had only book one night as the view was amazing, the room was fantastic (it was so much nicer than the website photos) and the breakfast was very nice. The server at breakfast was so very helpful as our child has a cows milk allergy and he took time to explain everything to us. We also ate dinner at the hotel and it was very nice. The servers were once again very friendly and helpful. The free shuttle from the parking area was VERY much appreciated. I know we will be back - for longer!
stayed 3 nights in the top suite( I think 203) . The room was recently refurbished, with lovely wood plank floors, eccentric but lovely bathroom, tons of space, and a huge lake terrace over the lake with amazing views, loungers, table/chairs etc. We ate here on the terrace one night, and in the waterside restaurant the other 2 nights....abundant and excellent food and service. You must park in Parking 1 ( 15 euros a night!) and get the free shuttle minibus to/from the hotel. Staying here was a sheer delight.
