I booked a junior suite at Hotel Stein a couple of days before arriving in Salzburg on December 1st. It was GREAT! The room was wonderful--beautiful bathroom, lovely king-sized bed. The decor is anchored by a number of very elaborate Venetian Murano glass chandeliers (we were

The hotel staff barely goes out of its way to help you and the rooms are generic at best. The hotel restaurant should be embarassed, it has no idea how to present a fine dining experience. Our bill was $350 (which would be fine had the service not been akin to McDonalds). I al

We stayed in a junior suite. The room was nice, but not so sure it befits a ‘junior suite’ - probably just extra space from a double room. Expected a ‘junior suite with fortress view’ to have a good view of the fortress though, but the room faces mostly the busy bridge instead.

Great location in the old town, lovely rooms, and great night sleep. Helpful staff, roof top restaurant and bar overlooking the river and castle on the hill. My room overlooked the river and was spacious, with great facilities and a huge, comfy bed. You cannot ask for much more i

What is the best way to travel to Hotel Stein from the airport?
Ignore the commenter who suggested tram number 3/6. There are no trams in Salzburg, only trolleybuses (overhead lines, but no tracks). The bus numbers suggested are from the train station, not the airport. To get to Hotel Stein from the airport by public transport, take trolleybus (O-bus) number 10 and get off at Ferdinand Hanuschplatz. Hotel Stein is then the other side of the river, just a short walk across the main bridge. Note: bus tickets are much cheaper if you buy them in advance from a tobacconist shop, there is one at the airport.

Is the outdoor terrace bar open year round?
I am not sure if it is. We were there in October and there were heating lamps there. Also, they were providing customers with blankets. Senior on a Budget
