Sofitel is simply outstanding. Service, quality of staff, free gym and wifi, high-end coffee and juices in the extremely well-decorated rooms, you name it. Highly recommended. One minor issue, though: Room service prices are quite high, even for Vienna, and portions are small. Had to order twice just to get reasonably full.

We stayed there for 4 nights at the end of October. Staff very helpful, obviously very well trained in Customer Service. Special mention for the Concierge, Wolfgang Wagner, who gave us excellent attention and service. Breakfast excellent at their roof restaurant with a superb view of the city and, again, very attentive and efficient staff. Good location. Ultra modern, minimalistic,...

Picked this hotel based on reviews, and it was a good decision. It's all been said: I'm just adding to the rave reviews. It is luxuriously minimalist. The whole place is black, grey and white and very stylish. We loved our room - large, clean, well-appointed. Bed and linens were high quality (firm bed, good pillows), Hermes toiletries, wet room...

We stayed here for 3 nights in late October. My partner who is an architect was super excited to be staying in a Jean Nouvel building. The design is thrilling and very modern. The room was very large with wide windows from which we could view the rooftops of the entire Inner Stadt, including the cathedral and town hall which...

I stopped in Vienna for one night on my way to Athens, from Prague. The rooms in this hotel are all white, black, or gray. It's very stark. The floors are even painted, and there's no carpeting. It's an interesting experience to have a totally open bathroom...without a door to the shower. The hotel's location is over a bridge from the center of the city, so it's a little out of the way. The...

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
