The hotel was in an excellent location for the main attractions and the train station. The room was very traditional and well appointed. We had a problem on the second day getting it made up and it was gone 2pm before it was prepared, The sealed atmosphere didn't agree with my daughter who was very congested in the mornings. Also...

Having booked an exclusive room we were happily surprised at check in to be upgraded to a "junior" suite. Probably 600 square feet with every amenity you can think of. Everything looks brand new and elegant. Great location near many good restaurants, tram stops and subway. Concierge has been most helpful.

If you're going to spend north of £400/night to be immersed in a completely smoky atmosphere, The Grand Hotel Vienna is the place to be. It's beyond barbaric and uncivilised that there still are public places where you walk in and are nearly choked by the stench of cigarettes. Yes, the staff will claim that "oh we have an isolated...

Dear "qqueste", thank you so much for your feedback regarding your stay with us at our "Grand Hotel Wien". I was very disappointed to read your review of us as I really did not recognise the hotel you describe; your description of the staff and their attitude is so contrary to all the other reviews here. One of the best in Vienna. Old charme, cosy and in perfect location. Reception fast, excellent rooms, good breakfast, except the coffee. Nice conference rooms. Summer terrace is a winner. One of the best places I stayed in the world. Compliments to general manager.

Yes, the location is ideal. City center, close to various choices of public transportation such as the Underground, the trolly, buses and walking distance to many attractions. However, the best part is from the minute you step through the doors. The staff at the Grand Wein immediately welcome you and make you feel like you're the most important guest. The...

This hotel can be qualified as the best choice in Vienna. Located in the heart of the city, everything is handy: the Opera, St. Stephan's, the shopping area. The hotel even has doors -next to the elevators- that lead to a "galleria" that is full of must useful stores, including a greengrocer's for the ones who can't live without fruit,...

Grand Hotel's location is excellent - walking distance to the opera house, Stephanplatz, Vienna's main square, museums (including the Kunsthistorisches Museum), St. Stephen's Cathedral and countless other attractions. The lobby is stately and beautiful (and quite ornate). The lobby bar had live piano music with good bourbons and wines by the glass. Our room was supposed to be non-smoking, but...

In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
