Our first impressions were very good. Quick and easy check in by staff who spoke excellent English. Our room was large as was the bathroom- yes a little dated but that somehow added to the hotels charm. My sister and brother-in-law were next door so we popped into their room. What a difference! Despite being on the first floor it...

Had a long weekend here and really loved it. The location is great as the underground is just round the corner and the museum quarter is only a 10 minute walk. The tour buses around 15 minutes walk. If you are going further just use Uber, in the week the charges are so low if there's a couple of you...

Located directly by Neubaugasse underground line U3 and amongst the High Street shops and fast/ street food outlets. The hotel rooms are large but now in need of updating as the decor is circa 1980's and shabby, as are the bathroom facilities. The beds are not particularly comfortable, but the room was quiet. The buffet style breakfast caters for the...

Overall a good hotel and would have been given a much better mark if not for those filthy pillows, we slept with plastic bags inside the pillow case and towels over the top. Good points: Really good reception staff, cannot give them enough praise they could not have been more helpful. Excellent location next to UBahn on a busy shopping...

Just returned back, the location was excellent, both for sightseeing and shopping. The stop for the metro is just outside, it could not be closer. Breakfast was very good with a large variety. Rooms a little dated and wc too small. A bigger man than myself (80kg) definitely would have a space problem. Friendly staff always ready to help you....

Stayed in November 2016, the location was super, the stop for the train is just outside the front door, it could not be closer. Breakfast was very good with a large variety. Rooms a little dated but not worth giving out about. Would stay again.

Have just come back from a three night stay in this hotel. Lovely hotel, pleasant reception staff (also spoke very good English), very helpful. Had breakfast included, was impressed. A wider continental range available which was fine for me but maybe not if you prefer a cooked breakfast. Didn't have dinner there as went out but came back for evening...

What more can I say superb location in the centre of Vienna, elegant hotel with a very good restaurant and attentive staff. Rooms are very large with very high ceilings. This hotel will not fail to wow you!

My second stay at the Kummer in three years. Each time was for 6 nights. The hotel is in a great location, good for shopping and public transport, both trains (U-Bahn) and buses. The rooms are very comfortable, very clean and well serviced. Staff have been very helpful, making it a hotel I would be pleased to stay at again...

Staying in Mariahilf

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.
