The location of this hotel is really good. It is a short walk to the museum quarter, very close to several metro stops, and in the middle of the shopping area. The free computer in the lobby with internet was a great bonus. The breakfast...More
Stayed for three nights 6th - 9th December for a short winter break. The hotel is in a good location if you use the Vienna Underground which is clean, cheap (about the only thing that is in Vienna) and effecient. The Hotel Receptionists and cleaning...More
We stayed for 2 days in Feb 2009, at this hotel in Vienna.
Very good location, near the Mariahilfer, at a very reasonable price. The stuff was friendly, helpful and empathic. At night, an American bar opens at ground floor.

Good hotel, big rooms equiped with huge bathrooms. Very clean (everyday cleaning - sometimes too early) and placed next to Mariahilfstrasse (50 meters).

Vienna’s sixth district hosts high street shopping heaven and pedestrian area Mariahilfer Strasse. The weirdest local building is probably the city aquarium Haus des Meeres, housed in one of Vienna’s six remaining World War II defense towers, and topped with a rooftop bar that offers stunning views over Vienna and the centre. One of the most historic sites in the area is the passageway of 18th century Raimundhof with
its small shops and cafés. It leads from Mariahilfer Strasse to Windmühlgasse. For a glimpse into the world of early 19th century theater, visit Semperdepot, the former depository for theatre decoration, which now hosts art exhibitions and fairs.

Sorry, I don' have experience with airport transportation in Vienna, but I do know there is regular public service. To get to Hotel Fürst Metternich, head for the metro line which connects Stephansplatz (downtown, right at the cathedral) with Westbahnhof and get off at the Zieglerstrasse stop. It's only a few steps from there.
