We spent a week at Hotel Stefanie recently. Our room was large and extremely comfortable and quiet. The hotel is situated approx 10-15 walk from Stephensdom and the shopping area. Excellent buffet breakfast, plenty of choice and very fresh. All food at the hotel is extremely good. Staff are superb, nothing is too much trouble and we look forward to...

We wanted to stay in an Austrian hotel and not a American clone hotel. This was a good choice for that culture fix. The breakfast was terrific and a lovely setting. The staff were always polite and made the breakfast experience a good one. Rooms good and comfortable with mini bar and cocktails available in the small very comfortable bar....

The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. They took care of everything we asked for. The food in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was great. The location is a short walk to the Schwedenplatz U-Bahn which then allows to get to all lines. Also a nice distance to Prater and Stephansplatz. The room was very spacious and the...

Superb hotel, so clean and the service was second to none!. Highly recommended. In particular, the reception staff were top class! The maids were so good and respectful and the linen on the beds were the best we have ever had. Had a brilliant time.

Hotel Stefanie is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a well located, comfortable stay in Vienna. The most economical way of getting to the hotel from the airport was using the S7 line to get to Wien Mitte and then hopping on the U4 line to go between Landstrasse (Wien Mitte’s u-bahn station) and Schwedenplatz. You’re then less than...

The hotel claims to be the oldest in Vienna (we didn't verify this), but certainly has old-world style, charm and service. Guests area treated like guests, not customers. No up-selling (nice for a change), just a welcoming, helpful and efficient front desk staff. It's located north of the Old City, across the Donaukanal channel about a long 1-1/2 blocks from...

As we are about to check out and take our leave of this beautiful hotel, it is rare to find ourselves struggling to be anything other than completely satisfied. From the friendly welcome and nothing is too much approach from the nice people on reception to the excellent breakfast it has been a joy, and one we will definitely repeat....

An outstanding hotel. From the superbly attentive restaurant staff to the comedic barman to the reception staff and not forgetting the general staff praise to all. Our group of 8 were warmly welcomed and all needs accommodated. Great location. An experience not to be missed.

Nice original Viennese atmosphere. The hotel has character. The breakfast room is beautiful, and the food and service very good. Refurnished progressively without "modernisation" through the 8 years I have had at least one stay per year there.

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
