The decor, the garden, the uniformed staff, tall ceilings, but also the keys, the rooms, and the lack of smart power-saving features, give this hotel a very retro-feel. The breakfast is excellent, including champagne(!?), and beautifully arranged in a great dining room. The location is also very good, just 10 min. walk to St. Stephens' Very clean, very professional staff.

The staff are courteous and helpful. we stayed in a street front room. There was quite a bit of outdoor activity on weekend nights so if you are noise sensitive a courtyard room is better. The street front room was more spacious than the courtyard rooms. Breakfast buffet was fabulous, lots of fruits, cereals, fresh breads, meats and hot dishes...

A perfect hotel to stay in. Excellent location at the edge of city center, few steps from underground, sightseeing bus stop, Danube river cruise and airport bus stop. Very helpful welcoming staff, clean, elegant, very good breakfast buffet and worth money.

We stayed here three nights in June, 2015. It is located just north of the canal and the main shopping and site-seeing areas of the city. Easy walk to almost everything. The room was large and comfortable; bathroom clean and roomy. The concierge staff did everything possible to assist with tickets for attractions and transportation. Breakfast was fantastic - plenty...

Everything is well, good and excellent at the Stefanie. Staff is very kind, breakfast is good, agreable premise. Very well situated for business and visiting Vienna downtown. Reside regularly in the hotel since early 2000 and never had any negative experience.

We just got home after staying at the Hotel Stefanie for a week. It is ideally located to see everything yet far enough away to feel like you are in a neighborhood. Our room was huge and overlooked an interior garden. Our spacious room came in handy because I was sick and in bed for two days while my husband...

A good location just near the center with a very good service and nice rooms - Wifi is a bit slow. Can fit with couples who come to visit Vienna. 10 minutes walk from the main piazza at Vienna. This is an old hotel (300 years?) who has the right atmosphere for old vienna.

I have stayed at Hotel Stefanie twice now, and will definitely be staying again. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms clean and functional. It is well-located for exploring the city by foot, near several u-bahn and s-bahn lines, and easy to reach from the airport. The breakfast is wonderful, and the hotel overall has traditional Viennese charm.

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
