At the Vienna, downtown Josefhof Mercure hotel offers a good place to stay. I liked spacious room with interesting divided bathroom which can be useful in case of two persons occupancy. Maybe it will be hard to find it if you are coming by car because it is located at small quite street. I recommend navigation system. All other aspects...

The hotel staffs are friendly and accomadating. They assisted me by lending their phone charger ad I forgot to bring mine. The room is clean, well kept and little stuffy perhaps it could be the heater. Breakfast is excellent, I love their latte machiatto and wide range of cereals to choose from. Overall an excellent stay, I would recommend this...

Good standard hotel, clean, quiet and tidy. Had standard double room which was a good size with a large bed. No tea/coffee in room which was a shame. It was available as a room upgrade...more money. Breakfast was good but the area where the food is kept was a bit cramped for space. Location is okay, a bit of a...

good location... quiet ... BUT ... near enough to town... Museum district is well within walking distance.... easy to get to if you are given good instructions ... I would suggest Google maps or equivalent the first time round

We don't have any problems about the size the room however we stayed in a room with the low ceiling and collumns, this way i had to walk in the room with my head down but i hit the head in the columns and when i complained in the front desk the staff was indifferent about my problem. I requested...

Perfect location and friendly staff, and good quality rooms. I enjoy the privilege rooms which are quiet and lovely design and decent size. Breakfast is good but the service is poor. The tea water was cold and staff did not take it away and bring a fresh one. That was my only complaint.

The hotel was ideally placed for touring the city. Beds were comfortable and room was of good size with all the gadgets you would expect and need as a traveller. Very peaceful and the staff helped with advice and booking requests☺

Overall is good. Helpful, friendly staff. Location is close to Rathaus. But the footpath to the hotel is too narrow and too much slope. But they asked me to save the water exchange with more welcome drink, i chosed that choice but no more welcome drink receive.

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
