We spent two weeks in Hotel Austria and it has everything we could wish for. I can't rate the staff highly enough, friendly, smiling and efficient. The breakfast buffet offers lots of choice, with freshly prepared food and good coffee. The hotel itself is clean...More
This is a great hotel beautifully located near St. Stephen's Cathedral within walking distance of all of central Vienna. Excellent breakfast, outstanding staff and helpful, lovely rooms. It is a pleasure to keep returning here.

North of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Vienna suddenly turns small, winding and medieval, opening up to legendary places such as the Basilisk sculpture at Schönlaterngasse, as well as glamorous baroque façades, courtyards and churches. Take 45 minutes for a casual stroll through Bäckerstrasse, Sonnenfelsgasse, Köllnerhofgasse, Grashofgasse, and Schönlaterngasse. This quarter is packed with stories
and legends that will enrich your Vienna experience.

There is a courtyard entrance to the hotel which is up a cobbled dead-end street, the hotels pedal bikes are outside on racks. We always found it to be very safe but sadly if someone wanted to steal something I’m sure they would find a way. Best to phone the hotel and ask if they have a lock-up you could use.
Hope this helps.
