I have only good things to say about this pension. We booked a 2 bed room with shared bath for 4 nights initially. After the first night, we extended our stay to 10 nights. We were there end of October into November. We liked everything. 1. Room was smallest available but it is well equipped with a storage unit which...

If you are expecting a five star hotel with all the associated luxuries, this isn't the hotel for you. We had room 501 which had just been decorated and the room was perfectly habitable. We asked for a double room and were given two singles next to each other, but didn't really bother us, the beds were comfy and the...

Lots of good things to say about this pension. Great location - close to metro, life ball, and I heard a lot of artist types live in that neighborhood. The pizza place down the street was reasonably priced and the food was outstanding Great room- this was one of the largest rooms I've had in Europe And of course it...

Our 2013 euro trip was quite eventful but one of the best things we did right was staying at this hotel! Peter (the owner) and the other Peter were simply the best! Absolutely worth the money! Excellent location! The sport sauna was a bonus (LOL)! Will surely stay here again when I am back in Vienna! Bis bald Peter!

- Great hotel staff. Mr. Wild, friendly and hospitable owner of the place, made us feel at home from the very beginning of our stay. He started with offering us a free breakfast, because we arrived quite early and our room wasn't ready. Later, when my girlfriend caught a cold, the other man at reception brought us some medicine (all...

Nice little place, well located in an artsy area of Vienna, full of shops selling "stuff and things" that you might not find elsewhere. The room was clean and simple (standard European fare), and considering its location was far from expensive. However, it was a little noisy at night, but nothing that stopped me sleeping well. I made the mistake...

The staff is amazing. We wanted to come a day early, but couldn't find transportation, and Peter (owner) helped us via email and was very responsive. For being a smaller hotel, it was great they had staff there 24/7. They also have taken the time to create a map of nearby restaurants, banks, cafes, etc, with their own synopsis of...

Like many others said this is not the place to stay if one is looking for a high end or top-notch experience. The men's sauna located in the entrance is really disorientating and not the place for those shocked by what ostensibly is a men's covert meeting place. Perhaps the biggest disappointments were the lack of air condition and the...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
