We stayed here for 5 nights in May 2014. It is a clean, well run pension. Good location relative to the major tourist sites. Room was a bit small and the price was quite a bit higher relative to other cities. Breakfast is not included. Bathrooms are shared. Some stairs to navigate if you're hauling a stroller and luggage. It... More

Price is very suitable. It is an old and historic building. Staff is very helpful. Rooms are clean. I stayed two nights in single room and feel comfortable. There are two types of single room: one has both toilet and shower, and oter has only shower. Second one is a bit cheaper. Common toilet is very clean therefore it is... More

Four supermarkets are located near the hotel. Tram stops on both left and right side of the hotel. Not far away from underground station but pay attention to the entrance, the two directions do not share a same entrance. Plenty of restaurants can be found near the building. Anyway, the room is not very cheap but comfortable enough.

In January, I reserved a single room through the website and was able to get one of the cheaper ones (38 euros/night). Prepayment was necessary. Confirmation of reservation came through email without a problem. This hotel is located on a side street, a good 30 min. walk from the Westbahnhof (main train station) or 10-15 min. by underground (U3 &... More

This is a satisfactory rated pension in my opinion that is in a fine location with nice restaurants and shops. I stayed in a single room with high ceilings and shower / basin inside the room. The pension has a good feel about it and was clean throughout. The price is high for a single room and breakfast is not... More

I stayed there on my own in August 2012. It was quite difficult to find the hotel (or maybe I was too tired from the train early in the morning), but the staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and comfortable (beds are great!), I didn't mind shower and toilet outside of the room. All the sites are... More

This place is very roomy, it is budget and therefore not fancy, but for a last minute booking on a budget, this place is right near a number of main attractions. I was very happy with this place, the price and location are the main factors.

The Lehrerhaus is very functional accommodation. The rooms are clean and large and we booked with a bathroom so were lucky to have an amazing shower. We were on the 'mezzanine' which involved walking up one set of stairs and down another and through several fire doors but it meant we weren't disturbed by fellow guests. However, each morning the... Everything you need at a good price (for Vienna) and a great, central location which compares well to nearly every hotel. Big, clean rooms, access to a lounge, there is a microwave for emergencies (!) etc. car parking in the streets nearby is just €5 per day compared with €20 in other hotels' underground car parks. Why pay more for... More

I stayed here for two nights and paid about forty euro a night. No breakfast included and though I had a shower in the room and a colour TV, the toilet was on the corridor, something that in this day and age is unusual. The room was immaculate but everything looked unchanged since the seventies.

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
