An easy walk to hofburg palace and surrounds. The hotel was friendly, quiet and clean with a good breakfast. Tea and coffee available downstairs at any time and their was a nice sitting area where you could get beer and wine. Some good restaurants in the area such as la tavolozza which was excellent and very reasonable.

The hotel is perfectly situated if you are visiting Christmas markets as it's situated only 5 mins away. It's also within walking distance of the city centre with lots to do around. The room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They made sure that we knew where we were going and...

Lovely hotel meeting all needs for Christmas market stay in Vienna. 5 mins from underground and rathaus square. Breakfast fine, reception staff very helpful. Free tea and coffee all day. TV didn't work but didn't really go there to watch it! Fridge in room empty to put your own wine in :)

Stayed here with friends - location perfect for walking around the old town - very close to public transport - breakfast really good and always plenty - room smallish but perfectly adequate - clean and quiet - staff could not be more helpful and were warm and friendly. Good hotel - no frills - but very clean & friendly staff. Lounge area small, but tea & coffee always available & bottles of wine & beer also on sale. Bedroom was small & could do with a general update. Only real complaint is that the walls are very thin - especially when next door snores very loudly!! Hotel is...

Wonderful breakfast, friendly staff and good 3 star hotel. Rooms need to be updated and television changed. Extra-pillows should be available as Austrian ones are too low for some people. The lounge is very cosy

It is really great hotel, with nice people and staff, who are really helpful. Street is quiet, so everything is just perfect. Next time when I will be in Viena, I will definitely go to this hotel again. And price of the hotel is quite low :)

The Hotel Alpha was an excellent choice for us - 3 couples on a weekend break to see the Christmas markets & a bit of Vienna. We arrived fairly late on a Friday evening & found the Reception staff very welcoming. We had a drink in the cosy bar area which doubled up as the breakfast area during the morning....

Stayed 5 nights for Christmas markets and other sight-seeing. Hotel was easy to find. Everyone there was cheerful and helpful. Room was a good size (105). Good buffet breakfast, always replenished. Tea, coffee, fruit always available. Lovely to relax in the lounge at the end of the day. Would recommend and would return.

A very convenient and friendly hotel. Easy to get to from the airport by public transport. The room was adequate, the bed was comfortable- we didn't bother with the tv as it seemed not to have BBC news channel. Breakfast had a hot egg/frankfurter option as well as plentiful cold options. Free tea and coffee all day in the lounge...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
