This was my 3rd stay here. The new upgraded reception area was bright and welcoming. I was recognised and warmly welcomed on check in which was a very special touch. Everything during my stay was perfect from spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms to an endless...More
An excellent hotel, only 2 minutes from the nearest Metro station. The room was very nice, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious and you can find almost everything you would like. The staff is very professional, they never refused to help us and explain...More

Our initial shock of finding the hotel on a busy road was short lived. Many of the rooms are well behind this, opening onto a dead end street with parking for the hotel. So, very quiet.
This is a charming hotel, steeped in history. The...More
The Classic Hotel was pretty good, no real complaints except their breakfast food could have been fresher (e.g., the fruit was mostly canned, though sometimes there was one fresh item).

Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and
ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.

The trip is relatively straightforward. From Wien Praterstern Bahnhof, take at 9 minutes past the hour, S1 to Wien Miedling. At Miedling, take the Railjet to St Polten, then change to the local REX train to Amstetten. The whole journey takes about an hour and a quarter. Coming back, leave Melk Bahnhof at 36 minutes past the hour.
