I have come repeatedly to this hotel as it is a business partner of an institution I work with. It has been of consistent high quality for years. I like particularly the breakfast, very much variety of good items, meats,fish,cheese,jams,honeys.... No eggs getting cold, they ask you if you want something and prepare a good cheese omelette, for instance. The...

Stayed here for 3 nights. Large room with a comfortable bed, quirky design, in-room tub and an awesome rain shower (with underfloor heating). No tea/coffee though--but this wasn't important for us. Breakfast costs EUR17 but you can get a coffee and croissant to-go for a lesser price. Excellent location (very close to two metro stations). It was also very easy...

We stayed here for 4 nights and it was absolutely excellent. The room was modern, spacious and very clean with personalised. The breakfast was a highlight and the wine and tapas was excellent value for money. The staff was very friendly and helpful. In need of some plasters, bit only did reception have this but gave us enough for the...

We used Trip Advisor to short list the hotels for our stay in Vienna and finally selected this hotel. We were not disappointed. This is a small hotel that prides itself on service. All the staff speak English which was very helpful as our grasp of German is rather poor. The hotel is well situated and about 10 minutes walk...

We loved Rathaus Hotel from the very first minute we arrived there or even before (within minutes the staff arranged a private airport transfer for us via email; it`s actually a few euros more expensive than the underground and so much more convenient). The rooms being devoted to different winemakers - an exceptional idea. And we`re wine lovers so it...

My husband and I travelled to Vienna for a long weekend between business trips to Austria and Germany. When booking this hotel, I was concerned that the location would be further away from the main attractions since we only had a short time in Vienna. We found transportation to be no problem - about a 10 minute walk to one...

We enjoyed our stay at the Rathaus Hotel. It's in a great location of a quiet side street, but there are restaurants and groceries within one block away and the metro stop within five minutes walk. The rooms are large, with a modern design, and are all named after Austrian wine makers. Cute hotel, and the staff was great with...

Good location on a quiet street, good service and excellent breakfast. I really liked the Wine -idea, that was implemented into details. Exellent shower products and enough of them ( I always tend to run out of those small packages). No gym, was probably the only minus, but a good day stroll around the city, would you use gym anyway...?

My daughter and I felt like we splurged and went to heaven in this gorgeous boutique hotel! The Hirsch room was divine, the elegant chair, the way the blinds revealed a pattern in the dark. Each detail was artistic in a minimalist decor. We loved it and to have a teenager say " this is the coolest hotel we have...

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
