OK: If you like the numbing, uniform environment of chain hotels go and look elsewhere. And if you're heading for downtown Vienna the transport to get there is probably easier if you find a place in Budapest. But if you want a stay in a characterful place in beautiful surroundings with a friendly staff, this place is for you. They...

It's a terrible experience, it's not just the weather cold also the staff. We arrived late night, it was cold and no heating on. I spoke to the reception and complained about it, she told me she would check it for me, then nothing. I couldn't stay in the room, it was even warmer outside. I asked the reception again,...

We booked it at last minute. Arrived very late. Staff prepared our room in no time. Stayed in the main building. Joseph and Anglene were very accomodating and nice. Hotel has historic background. In the morning, enjoyed the view. Walked little bit on the trail. Room was spacious with lot of storage space. Nice bedding. Big bathroom and toilet. Classy...

We stayed here with our Boys Choir from Portsmouth UK and stayed for 12 nights! The staff were extremely friendly - this is a real family run hotel. The rooms were always clean and the bar and meals were excellent. The setting for the hotel is breath taking. I stayed here in 2005 and so returning in 2014 I wondered...

The title is not just a joke, we were there with a group from our uni, from 2013. nov 29. - dec. 01.. The breakfast was good, but we missed the vegetables, the rooms were clean, the bathrooms too. But the cold... When we got into our rooms, we felt as we were outside: not more than 15 celsius, next...

The surrounding of the hotel is absolutely astonishinh especially at late spring. However is some 12-15 km from the center of Vienna so you need to spend anothe 20-25 EUR to get there and eventually - back as well. The place is far from being luxury whatsoever. But it's ok if you expect to get back in 70-80's and enjoy...

We stayed 3 nights there, in the second building, some 20 feet away from the main buliding. Far from the city (12 km or 23 euros - taxi ride from the opera to the hotel). very unpleasant surroundings in the winter...Room, hmmm...old, needs to be totally refurbished. The painting (see photo...) was "astonishing", I never saw another uglier "wall deco"...

This hotel was part of a travel package organised by the travel company. We had a room there for 2 nights B&B. - evening meal was extra not bad when you have a choice of no other eating locations to hand. Our room was on the ground floor in the block next to the pool. the bathroom was badly in...

It wouldn't be our first choice in Vienna. Beutiful location, in the mountains, but very far from the city. The pics in Internet were too much different from the real 'fatiscente' aspect of the Hotel (old furniture, broken glasses, etc.). Very good dinner!

The chronicle of the SophienalpeThe Sophienalpe was constructed by Emperor Franz Joseph for his mother, the Duchess Sophie, as a rural summer residence and was renovated at the end of the century 1900 as the "Reststop Inn and Dairy Farm Sophienalpe“.
