Detailed Reviews

Hotel as described for other reviewers. We were checked in by Matt and the room was ideal with everything you needed and quality bedding and products. Ideal location and paid parking ÂŁ6 for 24 hours less than 100m away.
Breakfast was good with dog treats and a dog menu also available for your dog, but we didn’t use it.
Will definitely stay again.
The only reason for the 4 stars was the room had areas of paint touched up but the paint didn’t match so there were patches on the walls.

We had a female family gathering in Mumbles and stayed at The Oyster House on a Saturday night in January. Ten of us ranging in age from late 70s to early twenties staying across 6 rooms. From the time of booking all the staff were extremely helpful. The accommodation is absolutely lovely and it is in a brilliant location for all that we had planned for Saturday afternoon, evening and Sunday morning.
We had booked a table for lunch for all of us on Sunday - the food was delicious - I would definitely recommend the Ultimate Sunday Roast for 2 people!
Thank you to all the staff that we encountered during our stay, but a big shout out must go to Amy - your help was greatly appreciated.
One of my sister's has already booked a return visit and I know that we all are keen to return!

The hotel is fabulous. I had a gorgeous large room overlooking Swansea Bay and no road between the hotel and the sea. Just a prom. Perfect. Full of art and quirky touches that are delightful. You have the prom for safe walks in the evening after dinner and if you want slightly more challenging walks with glorious beaches to walk too you are a 5 min taxi ride to the beaches and cliffs on the other side of the promontory. From these you can walk a short or long way to the next beach or beaches and stop for refreshments or a superb lunch at Langland Beach. Views all the way and most walks are doable by most. Great shops and art shops nearby and restuarants as well. The hotel itself does a superb Welsh breakfast either vegetarian or otherwise. We had a good dinner there one night too. Lovely young man behind the bar who looked after our cases im the day we were leaving and Sarah the head housekeeper was lovely and put us in the know of other places to visit. Perfect even without your own transport. Would return im a heartbeat and hope to do so.

We have always thought this looked like a lovely place to stay in Mumbles but unfortunately the service is poor and it definitely didn’t feel like value for money.
We checked in at 4-5pm on a busy Sunday afternoon - at the end of the bar by a corridor and the toilets. We had to keep moving out of people’s way, and the member of staff checking us in had an unfortunate manner and made us feel as if we were an inconvenience.
We eventually found our room which was nicely decorated with a great walk in shower. We had booked a dog friendly room and found a welcome pack of dog treats but I’m not sure that justifies the £20 PER NIGHT additional cost for bringing a dog!
We stayed three nights - our towels weren’t replaced, the bins weren’t emptied and our milk wasn’t replenished for tea.
The room was noisy due to building works outside which began at 8am everyday we were there - no mention of these when we booked.
All in all, the hotel looks nice but is actually more like 18 serviced (or not-serviced, in our case) rooms attached to the back. For the prices charged there needs to be some customer service - could definitely do better! Wouldn’t recommend for the price. When we checked out we weren’t asked how our stay was - just told where to put the key. Marketed as a boutique hotel, and it looks nice, but there’s a long way to go with training front of house staff and making hotel guests feel welcome.

Dear Tessa Thank you for leaving a review, we are sorry you felt that your stay was disappointing and can assure you , you were by no means an inconvenience. We are also sorry to read you found the service poor, that is certainly not we aim to achieve; and I’m afraid the sea wall repairs are undertaken by the local council, so very much out of our hands, but apologies if the morning start time bothered you. We do hope you will return and give us another try.

Sadly, this hotel didn't live up to expectation. Best thing about the stay was the breakfast and staff in the restaurant, excellent! The hotel experience however was not good. Cleanliness was the biggest issue. Carpets in our room and especially the hallway were stained and dirty. Shower stall didn't look as though it had ever been thoroughly cleaned. The shower head itself was full of gunk. The towels were oversized and it wasn't until after I used it that I noticed dark brown stains on one end...ugh. We managed to get some clean towels from the hallway and left our used towels just outside our door (leaving the DND sign on the handle) When we returned to the room, the towels were gone and clean towels were lying on the floor in the hallway! On checkout day, we noticed that clean sheets were left on the hallway floor for the next occupants. So....that means the sheet we slept on had also spent time on the hallway floor? Really? King-sized bed was very poor quality and sagging on both sides. Finally... wasn't until checkout morning with the curtains wide open that I noticed a super thick layer of dust on the headboard.

Dear Donald Thank you so much for leaving a review, although disappointing to read. We are very pleased you enjoyed your breakfast and service received, and apologise if you found other issues with you stay. The Laundry we use within the rooms is professionally laundered, so apologies if there was an oversight with marks on this linen, we have spoken with our housekeeping team, whom will be far more observant in the future and will look out in more detail for marks like these, but please be assured, the laundry used was clean. Regarding the carpet This is very light in colour and does mark very easily, this is cleaned on a regular basis and we will speak again to our team, to the cleaning frequency and of course the headboards. Laundry used in rooms, is 100% clean at all times and no guest ever would be given linen used by another guest or intentionally dirty and we are very sorry if you felt the bed was uncomfortable, beds are very much a personnel preference so again apologies if the bed was not suitable to you. Please do give us another try when next in the area, we really would not want you to stay away. Thank you again for your feedback and we do hope to see you again moving forward. .

Unjustifiably pleased with itself for no good reason. Awful cheap toilet paper. No hand rail in shower. Slippy floor in shower and nowhere to put your own stuff. Poor service at breakfast; coffee slopped into saucers. Bread should be wrapped if you want people to cut it themselves, otherwise different people are touching it with their bare hands. Items on menu not available (Greek yoghurt). Poached eggs tasted of vinegar

Dear John Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are sorry if you feel that we believe we are better than you believe us to be, we have so many happy guests coming through our doors with many guests returning frequently. Our toilet paper is branded and not cheap paper as you have suggested, the floors are textured within the showers with the anti slip, and we also provide a bath mat should the guest requires its use. We apologise if you were dissatisfied with our breakfast offering and on occasion, some items may run out. The Greek yoghurt I would assume had yet to be delivered by our suppliers, so apologies for this missing item; the poached eggs tasting of vinegar again our apologies, we will speak with our chefs. Again we apologise for any dissatisfaction ,thank you for staying with us and we do hope you will return when next in the area.

We stayed at the Oyster House for three nights and we can’t speak highly enough about them. We had booked into an Airbnb which turned out to be unsuitable and contacted Oyster House to see if they had a dog friendly room available. Not only did they arrange something for us at 10.30 at night, but they were really welcoming and helped us get settled even though it was time for them to finish for the night.
The room was really spacious and spotlessly clean and the decor was lovely too.
I’m afraid I don’t know the name of the gentleman who sorted out the room for us, but he was really great, and clearly loved dogs, so thank you!

We stayed here for 1 night. Although the weather was unpleasant the hotel was great. The room was well presented, decor was muted and subtle, with a nod towards a beach side hotel. The bed and bedding was really good quality and really comfortable, loved the curtains! The room was spotlessly clean, and the little fridge had fresh milk, much better than those milk capsules.
Breakfast was excellent, good quality produce and also an extensive choice.
All staff were polite and friendly, especially the breakfast staff. We were shown to our room by the manager and he was really friendly, pointing out all the rooms amenities.
Surrounding the hotel are several restaurants and bars, including the hotel’s own, offering a comprehensive choice of food at various price ranges.

Oyster House is the perfect place to stay for a break by the sea. The views across the bay are beautiful. The staff at Oyster House were really helpful, friendly and particularly accommodating to the Gluten Free member of our party. The chef took them through everything on the menu that was suitable and they had plenty to choose from. A particular mention of the Sausage and Mash and also the Fish and Chips, both delicious and very tasty.
The rooms are very comfortable and extremely well appointed. The addition of a fridge in the room was most welcome, as were the Welsh Cakes and chocolates! We will certainly be making a return visit soon!

Booked here for a weekend away. Below done for easy reading, even with the Cons mentioned, we would return to give the place another chance. I'm a bit disappointed we paid the extra for a 4-star hotel, and the basics weren't even correct. There was no offer of discount or a drink etc to easy the blow of no hot water etc.
Pros
•Rooms are big
•Balcony sliding door able to open for fresh
air.
•Big comfy bed
•Fridge in the room
•Side entrance to the hotel to save you
going through the restaurant.
•Good location and very close to the sea
front.
•staff were polite and friendly
Cons
•No hot water Saturday, didn't find out why
until we asked (would have been nice to be
contacted or some proactive
communication rather than having to ask
about it)
• Room was only set up for one and not two
people as the booking showed. One towel
in the bathroom, one glass, one cup, and
saucer etc
• WIFI didn't work in the room and tried multiple
times to connect
•Coffee/Tea station didn't seem to be replenished from previous guest e.g. no normal tea bags, jar of welsh cakes only one left, only 2 sachets of sugar for 2 nights stay.
• Expensive parking nearby, but this is not hotel controlled, but they could advertise that paying by the app is cheaper than paying at the machine.

Dear Aimee Thank you so much for leaving a review, we are so pleased to read you liked your large room with balcony doors and the location of the business, with the ease of entrance and exit. Apologies of the room was not set up correctly, this would have been an oversight and we apologise, this is not normally the case. The hot water Apologies also for this, there was a failure that we were hoping to get resolved on the same day as established, but was let down by the contractors when they didn't arrive, so again our apologies if you were not informed of this. This was as we are sure you saw resolved the following morning, which we appreciate did not help you at that time, so again our sincere apologies and we are so pleased you would still give us another chance. Merry Christmas to you and we do hope to see you again very soon.
