For a weekend of discovery of the cliffs in south London, we decide to stay for one night in this hotel, sincerely found by chance on the internet. Difficult times these of Covid-19, the locals try to take the measures with the new directives, at our entrance we find everything perfect, the staff with masks, at the check-in a plexiglass panel separates us from the person in charge at the reception. The disinfectant available, one-way routes where it would be difficult to keep your distance. All excellent, the room is normal, not too spacious but more than enough, large bathroom, all very clean. The room was very hot, without air conditioning, and in the night by keeping the window open (at the back of the hotel) we were disturbed by the street noise and the noise of people until late at night. In the morning breakfast is a little more complicated for the protection measures, so there is no buffet, they asked us to indicate a preferred time to avoid crowding and then we were served at the table. All good something was missing to make me give the fifth star of excellence, but I believe that if in these difficult conditions they managed to make us feel good, when, hopefully soon, we will be able to return to normal, I don't doubt they will also be able to do something more. Good value for money.

A group of friends comprising nine people/ five rooms stayed here last week. Quite disappointing for the price paid.
Rooms quite basic although clean. Big discrepancies with prices for breakfast being quoted in room literature, outside the hotel and online. Menus for dinner shown but no food was available.
I now understand that this establishment is for sale which perhaps accounts for the lack of any ambiance.
The very few staff members were however, very friendly and tried their best under what must be difficult circumstances.

This hotel is ideal for a wheelchair user. It has a small lift inside and no steps to enter the hotel.
Right on the seafront not far from the pier.
Bed was comfortable. Bathroom only had a shower over the bath but had plenty of exceptionally hot water. Tea and coffee making in room.
Very helpful and friendly staff
Plenty of choice for breakfast which was cooked well and hot.
On road parking free for blue badge holders but hotel sells parking vouchers for others.
Nothing too much trouble for staff.

Firstly, I am not the type of person to complain. So for me to complain it has taken an awful experience to do so.
I emailed and called the hotel numerous times but was told ‘the manager has read your email, and if he hasn’t responded then he doesn’t care’. For starters that is no attitude to have from ‘reception’ staff.
So I did give them the benefit of doubt to rectify but they chose to be unprofessional and rude about the situation.
We booked to stay on a Sunday to Tuesday, it was that awful we had to check out on the Monday (my husband wanted to check out on the same night but I insisted to stay as I didn’t want to waste money as you can imagine!)
As we had travelled from Crawley, we had to stay at a family members house for the remaining day and night. As we had days planned in eastbourne that day, even more disappointing that when booking over the phone was promised a ‘nice’ room so was built up and gave false hope to end up receiving quite the opposite.

The room didn’t have aircon or even a fan in this hot weather, which was unbearable.
We then mentioned this on checkout where we were told unsympathetically ‘you could’ve just asked for a fan’ pointing to a desk fan, which as you can imagine wouldn’t air a whole room.
The windows would only open slightly and not big enough to air a whole room.
We also got bitten (whether this was dirtiness of the room or from outside we do not know!) and could not sleep due to this, where we ended up with no sleep which was not an enjoyable experience.

The bathroom had no light, just on the mirror. Couldn’t see of a night, too dark. Not sure how this is acceptable not being able to see your way through to the toilet properly.
No shelves in bathroom for toiletries (no storage). Where was we suppose to put these? (Photos taken if needed). We feel like we may as well lived out the car for a night..

Bath was dirty (photos can be provided if needed) so couldn’t even use as didn’t feel clean enough to use.

In room, lights just had bulbs hanging no coverings which is dangerous (hazard).

Quilt had a blanket inside not an actual duvet.

I really felt the need to express this dissatisfaction as I paid for a room expecting it to be up to standards and I feel I really didn’t get what I paid for, I could have had a blanket over me and lights on and a clean bath at home for free. And now I feel I am £150 out of pocket from an awful experience.

The breakfast was also terrible, poor quality, cold & bread hard on top, not fresh. The timings of breakfast between 7:30 - 8:30 was also very harsh. Where the service wasn’t very good either.
I am not very happy I have had to make a complaint as I am not usually the person to do so.

We booked this hotel which cost £96 for one night without breakfast as its on the seafront you have little chance of parking nearby so we had to walk a long way. Entering the hotel the reception and bar area look reasonable but very quiet. We was given a double room on the 2nd floor to say it was basic, very small and outdated would be an under statement. The room was tiny so was the bed the tea and coffee facilities were rubbish with 100 year old glass cups (they only cost £1 in cheap shops for a nice new mug) the bathroom light was not very bright and the towels were very old, small and rubbish.

I suggest if anyone involved with this cheap hotel spends some money on better facilities it was cheap and nasty there wasn't even a teaspoon and we had to pay extra for breakfast and the safe which doesn't work. We won't be coming back it was more like a hostel room than a hotel.

So this place was extremely disappointing! To say dated is being polite.

We had booked a 4 night stay.

Firstly we arrived and my husband had ti go find parking down a busy main road which you have to pay extra for daily.

I took myself to the room only to find the smallest room I've ever seen with the smallest window, it was no bigger than a broom cupboard with the smallest window and it was so hot! There was no fan! I found out later that you have to ask for a fan! Why not leave them in the room when it's hot? It's been the hottest summer.

As soon as my husband arrived, he was also little shocked and how small the room was so I called down to reception to find out if they had any bigger rooms and maybe a sea view and luckily there was one avaliable. Of we was staying just a night then I would have made the best of it. It cost another £80 for the upgrade.

We went through to the bigger room with a sea view and the lady on reception brough us a fan!

It becomes apparent how dated this hotel really is when the pillows on the bed are like rocks. The mattress protector is just old throws layer under the sheets. The bed was two singles pushed together and two single duvets. The beds are old and lumpy. Bearly slept over the 4 nights.

The bathroom was terrible! I'm 5ft 3in and the shower over the bath was too low for me. There was hardly any water pressure. There was stains in the old tin like bath. The toilet roll was a tissue paper dispenser. Some random tiles place over the old white tiles over toilet which looked so out of place. Nowhere to put anything in the bathroom. I won't even start with the off coloured grouting.

Two plugs in the whole room so had to keep uploading things whenever we used the kettle!

One evening when we returned I went to use the small lift and it was full of cleaning stuff!

Another occasion when leaving the room we nearly feel over the cable to the hoover which was plugged across our door and the cable was about a foot of the floor and cleaning supplies all over the floor!

This hotel has nothing, no charm, no personal touches. With so many hotels in Eastbourne you'd think you'd want to stand out but I don't think anyone's cared about this place since the 80s.

I don't tend to complain but for the price it wasn't worth it, you are paying for the location and not a decent room.

The lady who upgraded us was lovely, she
was the only good point to this place.

I did laugh at the "no smoking in this vehicle" sticker on the bath of the bathroom door.

We had a very last-minute decision to stay in Eastbourne for another night. Angie at the reception was extremely helpful and booked a sea view room for us. The room has very good size and large windows, they offered a fan which was an additional saver in a heatwave. The location is great, supermarket behind a corner, an Italian ice cream shop, and a beach just across a road. We come back again.

My brother and I have had a wonderful experience at the Riveria hotel. Everything was excellent and the service and staff was excellent. The room we had was very comfortable and well equipped and even had a small fridge in it,which was very useful. Well done to all the staff and we look forward to staying again in 2020.

I have stayed here several times over the years and had some bad experiences as well as average. I am being a little generous with my rating.

One time a few years ago I had cleaners and one man shouting at me for checking out late (all in a foreign language) which is horrendous when you have stressful circumstances. I find the night porter grumpy which makes me feel uncomfortable. One time a Receptionist had a go at me about a food delivery I had not made but then she later apologised, especially after I told her about my experiences. She gave me a flower and a chocolate bar as an apology.

I like the fact that there are board games to play (it would be good if they had a few more.)

Unfortunately on this occasion I found a toe nail and I know it was NOT mine, made me feel sick but I didn't mention it!!! URGGGH

The Hotel is not my type of Hotel and it has a clinical feel and looks like a Private Hospital. The bath is far too small, the toilet paper are sheets of paper from a dispenser like a public toilet and the side table is like a Hospital bed. Also the Bath towels are poor quality and grainy and small like Hospital towels with the blue strip! Erghhh.... uncomfortable on the skin!

I needed the window open but whilst the door was locked, the draft made the door shudder. The green Fire alarm light also disturbed my sleep.

I don't think the Hotel is value for money.

Arrived on the 1st June with some friends and had 2 rooms booked, the receptionist was very helpful and polite and the ground floor area was very clean and spacious so as we headed upstairs to our rooms again it was clean and room numbers easy to identify, the rooms were large and being at the front of the hotel gave a great view of the sea and beach and again were spotless.
The next morning we had a cheerful welcome into breakfast which was very good with plenty of variety to cover for all tastes. Overall we can wait to return to this centrally positioned hotel even though parking can be difficult at times but the staff and cleanliness has our vote.
