#1 of 18 hotels in Ipswich
Travellers' Choice
This artfully designed boutique Hotel and Restaurant in Suffolk reflects luxury and dazzles in the waterfront of Ipswich's vibrant Harbour quayside at night. The Salthouse Harbour Hotel goes beyond what you expect and exudes its 4 star status in every curious corner, eccentric sofa and unstuffy cushion. The sea-salted brickwork exterior has been restored & rejuvenated into a ship shape contemporary warehouse of rich modern interiors and rooms adorned with vintage furniture, sculptures and eclectic art. Within its comfy chic decor, although the mood is friendly and relaxed, the staff are professionally attentive to your every need. The cuisine is exciting and the popularity of the Salthouse Eaterie fills this delightful waterfront restaurant as soon as the tables are laid.

We had originally booked a two night stay at a Suffolk country house hotel where we had stayed before and arrived to find it was without heating. As we are both in our 70's this was unaccetable in December and we decided to go elsewhere. I had spotted the Salthouse Harbour advertised and decided to give them a ring to see if they had availabilty. The staff could not have been more helpful and booked us in for a two night stay (at a rate cheaper than our original choice!) and on arrival the friendly reception staff explained Covid precautions and gave us key. When we entered our room we were delighted to find it had stunning views across the harbour and marina and even had a small balcony. The decor and fixtures were all top quality and made our spacious room very comfortable. Our two breakfasts and evening meals were of top quality and all the staff friendly and polite. When we checked out we both agreed our stay had exceeded all our expectations.

The bedroom was stylish, spacious and sumptuous, with a really comfortable bed and huge bathroom. We had a wonderful dinner and breakfast, the restaurant had a great atmosphere and all the staff were helpful and friendly. Couldn't have asked for better.

Booked this stunning hotel through secret escapes. Having stayed here before a few years ago we hoped it would be as good as our previous experience. We arrived very early and parked our car in the complimentary car park which is next to the hotel. We popped into reception to let them know our car was in the car park and we were delighted to be told we could check in. Due to a little mix up between secret escapes and the booking team we were allocated the wrong room but to our delight this was rectified immediately and in fact we got a beautiful room... a marina room. It was so comfortable... huge bed, table and chairs ... marina view and stunning bath and shower. Didn’t want to leave! We ordered breakfast to our room and it arrived dead on 9am as requested. It was delicious! We were so impressed we rebooked for our anniversary this afternoon. It’s five star worthy ... from the cleanliness to furnishings.. views, staff and food ... treat yourselves!!!

Just had a fab couple of days at this lovely hotel. From arrival to departure all staff were so helpful and friendly. Our room was great and overlooked the marina. We were on a 'Food lovers break' and the restaurant did not disappoint. Everything we had from the menu over the two days was absolutely delicious! The hotel was very well organised for covid safety measures. Thanks again to all the staff at Salthouse
