Watch the world drift by at the Premier Inn Hotel Ipswich Town Centre (Quayside). Just opposite the quayside, you'll be in a great spot for messing about on the river, wandering around town, or visiting the region's businesses. You could take a cruise along the River Orwell, or find buried treasure at the awe-inspiring Sutton Hoo. You could feed the animals at Jimmy's Farm, or step out and explore the city's vibrant bars and restaurants. Then, after a movie at Cardinal's Park, stroll back to our tasty restaurant and extra-comfy beds.

One lift wasn't working so needed to wait for a long time for one. Children were running around in a room above, no sound isolation and even a wall was shaking by the bed. Loud noises from the street were not blocked by sealed windows. One window could be opened which is good. Temperature was easy to set. The room was quite clean. Easy check-out.

It’s basic- you get what you pay- circa £40. Parking areas available at £5 per night to be paid at reception- there are two: one at the lower ground floor with a difficult entrance as not very visual and other across the road. Check in was easy. Had room 116. Basic- nice bed. Overnight the room has a significant noise from the vent that required changing rooms to 201. 201 is a nicer room and slightly bigger. Check out easy. Staff were very accommodating and checked the vent in 201 before moving.

Where to start: 1st room was old & tired. I went to use the shower late that evening & found some hairs in the bath! It was late so I just went to bed – until 1am when I was woken from noise in the room above, even the light fittings were vibrating. I found out that the construction of the hotel is very poor, especially the floors which appear to be wooden hence the noise. Moved to the 5th Floor (top) so no more noise but window in the room did not open (locked closed). When asked if it could be unlocked, I was told it’s for safety. This was clearly rubbish as the same windows were open by the lifts on the same floor. I suspect they had lost the key. I would have to be less than 3 years old to get through as the gap is so small. 2 lifts but only 1 working, had been faulty for some weeks I was informed. So being on the 5th floor with luggage etc I had to wait and wait as 1 lift served all floors and during a Covid crisis, so sharing was out of the question. It appears most rooms have a problem with mobile signal unless you were wedged up against the window. Not just o2. Finally, on the Premier Inn website is states there is an on-site car park, which is true. What they donet tell you is that it only has 25 spaces, some of which are used by the staff. So, if you arrive later in the day, you will probably have to park in their overflow carpark which is a short walk away and definitely not secure. On a final point the hotel is situated on an appalling 1-way system which seems to be busy all day. I will definitely not be stopping again and recommend any potential guest to think twice before making a booking.

Response from Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, Other at Premier Inn Ipswich Town Centre (Quayside) hotel
Responded Nov. 18, 2020
Hello there, thanks for taking the time to share your review. Whilst we're happy to hear you stayed with us, we're sorry you found hairs in the bath and you then experienced noise disturbances. We're glad a room transfer was then offered, however we're sorry you were unhappy with the window being locked shut. We can imagine the overall experience left you feeling let down and this certainly isn't how we want our guest's to feel. Just so you know, we've now made a log of your comment's and have passed them to the hotel management team to see what improvement's can be made going forward. We wouldn't want standard's like these to continue so the lifts will be inspected and this will also be raised with the team to ensure noise check's are being carried out and the best service is being provided. We hope this doesn't make you think twice about returning so please have confidence this isn't our usual standard and your comment's will be picked up. Thanks again for getting in touch and we hope to see you again soon. Ricky

Visited on weekend of 3rd October. Was surprised to see high level of cleanliness as staff followed Covid protocol. Breakfast was excellent served by friendly staff. Host Hannah was very attentive with big smile and went along work without fuss. Parking was convenient and is close to town centre. Overall a very good choice next to the marina. Will recommend to everyone.
