After staying here about 4 years ago and having a wonderful time, i decided to book again for this weekend. I'm very pleased to say that the standards have been upheld and the place is even more fantastic than I remember. The owner/host David, made me feel very welcome and nothing was too much to ask. The breakfast was out...

David is a great host with an extensive full English on offer, and a great selection of fresh fruit for with your muesli and yoghurt. Homemade bread fresheach morning. Room was smaller than we expected but OK for a two night stay my Hubby might consider asking bed size before booking again as 6ft 2 into a double bed means...

Very disappointed. Wont be staying here again. On arrival there was nobody actually there. I waited 1 hour for the owner to arrive and he appeared to be drunk!! I was shown to my VERY SMALL room which had no wardrobes nor chest of drawers where I could put my belongings so I was practically tripping over my own things...

Pros: 1. Walking distance to Condor ferry terminal. 2. Quick stroll to Guildhall Tavern, a great restaurant for seafood aficionados. 3. David is friendly and helpful. 4. David cooks delicious breakfast in generous portions. 5. Situated opposite multi-storey car park (and David has some free parking slots). Cons: 1. Lack of double-glazed windows for a room situated just one floor...

Was looking forward to visiting the Merchant House , but had to cancel last minute as wife wasn't well. No problems from David : he ensured we got a full refund - we will definitely book again as we can't wait to stay - but great generosity from David of Merchant House - full trust in him

Overall a nice stay as it's in a great location and the bed was lovely, but there were a few little things which let it down a bit. Our room was quite small for the price and when we arrived the shower wasn't clean. There was an issue with the lighting in the bathroom which was tempermental but after speaking...

Nice friendly B&B. Location good. Limited parking. Breakfast is different, but great. The room I had was compact, but had everything needed for a short stay. Could have done with heating being on, and had to fiddle with shower plug, else it would have turned into a bath. Very clean and well presented. I would use again.

I've spent a number of nights in Poole over the last 6 months or so at various hotels but my stay at The Merchant House tops all others. Was made to feel very welcome by the host David. Lovely room on the top floor, light and airy with a comfortable bed. It wasn't the largest room I've ever stayed in,...

This is a lovely B&B which I booked to visit my son and his girlfriend for a few days. It is in an excellent position just one street away from Poole Harbour and the high street. There is easy access to Bournemouth and other local areas too. The room was lovely, cosy and very clean and the host was charming...

This is a fantastic find which is handy for the centre of Poole. The accommodation was immaculate with my towels being changed daily. David was very accommodating ensuring that I knew the best restaurants to eat each night. The breakfasts were brilliant and kept me going until dinner so saved money buying any lunch. I had a very pleasant stay,...
