Just returned from a walking weekend in the Black Downs area. Our stay at this quiet and delightfully situated B&B surpassed our expectations. Our bedroom and en-suite were spotlessly clean, the bed exceedingly comfortable and there were so many small details and touches to make us feel welcomed and quite special. The breakfasts using fine local ingredients were superbly cooked...

We stayed for five nights during May. Our en-suite room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Ann and John are delightful hosts and Ann’s breakfast sets one up for the day. Her homemade preserves are an added bonus. We had our evening meals at the nearby Greyhound Inn at Staple Fitzpaine. It is a popular venue for meals and it is...

John and Anne (the owners) are welcoming, friendly, funny and very helpful. The breakfast was the one of the best I have eaten in any B+B and was most pleasantly served, which included home made preserves which belonged on the shelves at Waitrose. Jane and I hope to return to the area in September, guess where we will be staying?...

Having spent 3 nights here with my family from America I have no hesitation in awarding The Spinney 5 stars. The welcome was very warm and we were immediately at ease with Ann & John our hosts for the next few days. We had two rooms, one was a double, very spacious with a full size bath and a pleasing...

Their home is beautiful in a lovely part of Britain, and the rooms are clean large and well appointed. The breakfasts were very good and our hosts were friendly, funny and very knowledgeable about...

The Spinney occupies an idyllic quiet countryside setting between the M5 and the A303 in Somerset. Our clean, light and spacious double aspect room gave vistas of the surrounding countryside with no other property in view. The room was equipped with everything one could wish for including a comfortable two seat settee. The bijou en-suite was also in immaculate order...

We stayed at The Spinney for one night on our way to Plymouth. The whole property was spotlessly clean, the twin room was large and well apponted with a wonderful view and had an en-suite shower room . We had an evening meal which was excellent and home cooked, as was the breakfast - and it was hot. The hosts...

We have just spent 12 superb nights at the Spinney. The hosts -Ann and John Bartlett- are warm and welcoming. The room was spacious, well equipped and comfortable-as was the large ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and when we chose to have a evening meal we were presented with English cooking at its best. Having a guest lounge with space...
