Southview Park Hotel emerges as a mixed bag in traveler reviews. While many guests appreciate the hotel's clean, well-appointed rooms and vibrant atmosphere, particularly due to lively events, opinions on value are split with some criticizing costly extras and room conditions. The service earns accolades for being friendly and helpful, despite occasional lapses in responsiveness.
Its prime location is celebrated for easy access to the beach and attractions. Although cleanliness is generally praised, some areas reportedly need more attention. Amenities are well-regarded, yet maintenance and breakfast service have room for improvement.

Detailed Reviews
Booked for our anniversary treat. My husband and I have stayed a few times before sometimes bringing our grandsons. This time was just us for our 31st anniversary. Was pleasantly surprised at the upgrade. Lobby looks lovely. Reception staff polite and helpful. Stayed in room 207. Very clean, decor looked recently done. Very comfy bed. Coffee, tea etc. not left in room anymore, was asked if required at reception and given in a small plastic bag, I would assume part of their covid measures. Decided on booking to pay for breakfast, not used the restaurant on previous visits. Had a meal in The Orangery on Wednesday night, food lovely , service fabulous we were very well looked after and so we were looking forward to a good breakfast on a Thursday morning. After a great nights sleep went down for breakfast nobody else in the restaurant was seated, offered tea, coffee and bought straight over. No menus on table waitress asked "full breakast"? Husband said yes, I opted for bacon, egg, mushrooms and toast. All bought out , bacon was nice, eggs snotty beans on husbands breakfast were cold. Disappointing service after we had been so well looked after the night before. Other diners came in and ordered fruit juices , toast and jam, pancakes etc, that we didn't even know were on the menu! Paid at time of booking £9.90 each, price for full cooked breakfast on menu seen at door when leaving £4.95! Feel very disappointed not offered any choices, no fruit juice, cereal, pastries, very expensive breakfast compared to other places we have stayed ..Not impressed wouldn't bother booking for a breakfast next time let's this lovely hotel down :-(

Hello and thank you for your recent review. We are pleased to hear that on the whole you felt looked after during your anniversary treat. Unfortunately, due to Covid measures, we are unable to leave teas/coffees etc in our rooms but are available from reception upon request. We do operate at present for our guests to choose and pay for the choices on our breakfast menu or opt for a complete breakfast comprising of toast, cereals, teas/coffees, juices, fruit and full English breakfast for £9.95 per adult. I am sorry to hear that on this occasion, this was not explained to you correctly and which we apologise. At present, we cannot have anything on the tables in our restaurant to avoid cross-contamination. All necessary items will be brought to your table. We do hope this will not deter you from staying with us once again in the near future. Kind regards Gavin

+1
We stayed here for one night and were allocated room 203. This was a twin room which had 2, really comfy double beds.
The room was a decent size, with a lovely view over the little lake at the front of the property.
There was no air con in this room, but a stand fan was provided although we didn’t need to use it.
The Bathroom was average size, with a shower over the bath. Access was a little difficult as the bathroom door sticks, so we had to give it a shove to open it fully.
The sink tap had no cold water; it was scorching to the left, less scorching to the right and if set to the middle, didn’t cut off fully and poured out of the tap fitting.
Taps from neighbouring rooms were also very noisy, we could hear the water through the pipes and then the pipes banging as the tap was turned off
Room 203 is right over reception (see photos), as a result we could hear the automatic doors swishing open and closed all night
This room is also close to lift/stairs and we were kept awake most of the night by very squeaky, banging doors. We weren’t sure if these were the fire doors, room doors or both. Coupled with the swishing of the reception doors, we got very little sleep.
Although the windows in the room opened slightly, we didn’t open them as we didn’t want the smell from cigs wafting in from the people who were smoking outside the reception area, just below our room.
Curtains are not blackout lined, so we had full sunshine beaming into the room from sunrise.
Breakfast was good value for £9.95pp but we weren’t given a menu, so we were unsure what our options were! Our waitress (an older lady) seemed very thin on patience, so we played safe and asked for full breakfast. We were asked if we wanted standard or mega, again we didn’t know the difference so got one of each! It appeared that the mega breakfast came with an extra egg and slice of toast.
Breakfast, although table service due to current covid restrictions, was unlimited but we had more than enough on the plate, so didn’t need to get anything else.
Coffee came in a pot for two and was like water! It was instant rather than filter.
This has got to be one of the noisiest properties we’ve ever stayed in, which is such a shame as it was in such a great location.

I’ve stayed at Southview regularly over the past 10 years for business. The hotel has been under new management over the past 18 months and has seen massive improvements since Rob Dixon has been in charge. Great staff including Sumat on reception and June serving breakfast, always make it a pleasure to stay in Skegness.

I shall start with the positives. Our room was ready early, we had arrived about an hour before our due check in time.(with plans to enjoy a relaxed drink beforehand) Our room was bright, spotlessly clean, large and airy. Admittedly our Covid safe sealed bag of tea, coffee etc only had one pack of biscuits but I appreciated the fact it was hygienically sealed, the thought that went into that was another plus.
Now the not so good. Upon our arrival we we’re not so much greeted by our receptionist but we received more of an interrogation. Nothing friendly or welcoming there. Our room was nice but our evening meal was the start of the downward slope. First our meal arrived without cutlery. We sat and looked at our food and waited for someone to either bring us cutlery or ask if everything was ok.. not a great start. Although the food was very nice, a huge portion of fish and chips was very nicely cooked.
A sleepless night in a very comfortable bed, sleepless due to the noise from the people in the corridor throughout the night and the family with young children next to us, And the people who woke us at 3.00am by talking very loudly as they strolled around the hotel made sure we didn’t feel rested.
Breakfast the next morning was a total sh9t show. There were 4 families dining when we were in, every single family had complaints. The family with two children only had three breakfasts bought out to the four of them and no drinks! The couple behind us had half of their food missing, even after we left they were still waiting for their missing breakfast items! Our breakfast had my husbands vegetarian sausage bap adulterated with the addition of an egg, such a good job my vegetarian husband isn’t a vegan. Likewise the brown toast we ordered was white and the additional preserves were missing. When asked “is everything ok with your food?” Apparently answering with “er, no, our jam has still not arrived” was the wrong answer. We were made to feel like naughty children for daring to ask for our missing jam. Also the coffee was, without a doubt the worst, most bland, tasteless and horrible coffee either of us have ever tasted. It literally tasted of nothing more than hot water.
Ive holidayed at many a parkdean venue and returned to them over and over again with our grandchildren or as a couple, so booking a parkdean hotel seemed to be a no brainier. I was totally mistaken. The service was poor and not what we expect.
Having visited on the weekend that the clocks changed and being told we had an 11.00 am checkout and breakfast available until 11.30 we really were looking forward to a relaxed stay. Sadly we had breakfasted and left before 9.30 am as we were just so miserable and felt very unwelcome.
A final plus point was our checkout, the receptionist was much nicer, friendly and professional.
Sad to say we’d never return and I do not recommend this venue.

Hello and thank you for your feedback which we greatly welcome. We are pleased to hear you were able to check in early and found your room large and airy. We are also sorry to read that you felt that the check in procedure was more like an interrogation. There is a lot of information that we need to give our guests at check in regarding new covid-19 procedures and track & trace. We can only apologize that on this occasion we did not meet your expectations. We do strive to give all of our guests an amazing experience whilst staying with us and to give them the best service experience possible. We hope you was able to bring these points up with the duty manager or if not, please feel free to contact us to investigate the issues you had further. We hope to hear from you soon.

We arrived early afternoon, checked in and took our belongings to our rooms with no issues. We then left and attend an event at Skegness raceway. On our return to the hotel at around midnight we went to have a shower only to discover there was no water in either of our rooms. I went to reception to notify the member of staff on duty who informed us that there was a burst water main and this was a wide spread issue in Skegness and had been since early that morning. As it was already known to staff we should have been informed of this when we checked in! There was little we could do after midnight other than stay there. The gentleman on reception eventually offered us 2 bottles of water to get washed and said the water would be back on at 6am. So we just had to accept that this was the situation and make do until the morning. After a terrible nights sleep following on from the no water drama, it was no surprise that when we got up in the morning (after 6am) there was still no water. When we went to reception to ask why, we were told it would now be 6pm before it was back on, which was absolutely no use to us. I suspect this was known all along and they were just telling guests 6am to satisfy them for the time being. We had to ask for more bottles of water which was given to us grudgingly. After attempting to get washed again we packed up our stuff and went for breakfast which we had pre paid for so that we could leave as soon as possible. The plates were cold, the food was cold and generally wasn’t great. The best thing about it was the toast however I noticed that guests had to continually ask for more bread as it seemed to be being rationed. When handing in our room cards I asked the lady at the desk about a refund or compensation which I felt was reasonable due to the fact there was no water for the duration of our stay making it inadequate and unpleasant. The lady that seemed to be in charge that day came to speak to us. She was rude and had a terrible attitude and made little attempt to sympathise or apologise for the inconvenience. She was quick to defend the situation as it was a wide spread problem however as I pointed out to her the hotel had a duty and level of responsibility to the paying guests that were staying to which she showed a concerning lack of care. Perhaps she would benefit from some training on how to speak to guests and deal with complaints in a professional calm and collected manner. She checked our details on the system and said the manager would contact us however this could take a few days as there was a list of people with complaints to get through which was no surprise. How they were allowed to remain open with no running water or hygiene facilities is beyond me - the toilets were absolutely stinking!
As you will probably have already guessed I am still waiting on a phone call from the manager . . .

When we arrived all was really fine pleasant lady on reception, we checked in and went to our rooms as we had two booked due to having 3 children with us. We tried to enter room but cards would not work , went back to reception and got them re swiped and both then worked. that evening we went out again on trying to get back in the room the cards would not work. Got told by person on reception was our fault for having them near out phones, but as we both travel a lot for week neither of us had put them near our phones. We said this and she just yer right. Anyway this happened six time to me, I then went down and the duty manager was there who said of course it works but again re swiped it, he followed us to our room and i put the card in and it did not work so he pulled one from his pocket and said well mine works!!!!! it must be you. we tried again and still no access. he then gave me a key to the room and when I said that others had had problems as I had been speaking to two other guests as well as my daughter he stood and and no there is no problem its just you.
On the Saturday night we ate in the restaurant in the hotel. We asked for menus and was given all adults one so we assumed that there was no children menus. We had a 8 and 11 year old with us who did not really want anything off the menu. They in the end had chip and some chicken this was difficult as the younger child has learning disabilities. Once we had finished the first course we sat with plates on the table for over 20 minutes and there was only two other tables occupied at this time and two waitress. The kids being kids and not liking the first course wanted pudding so my daughter went to the bar and asked for menu and this time was also given kids menus!! She asked for the table to be clear and then went back to the bar 5 minutes later to put in our dessert order They then cleared the table . The spoons were brought out and the waitress throw them on the table! When the desserts arrived again the service was awful my dessert was put in a empty place We asked for drinks these never arrived. We left the restaurant with one child really not happy and still hungry. My daughter went to reception and asked for the complaints form and was told we don't give them out but I will write it all down and tell the duty manager and he will come over to you. During this time the waitress stood at the bar and just starred at us making us feel very uncomfortable. Dinner to 2.5 hrs to get though. The receptionist then came over and told us hey would not charge for one meal and the waitress had only been there two days so it was ok. I will be also sending this to the head office as the duty manager just sat laughing and joking with the team and was the same one who was rude to me earlier. This spoiled the weekend for my daughters birthday and the grandkids first experience of stopping in a hotel, If the restaurant was busy I could understand but thet was us five and 4 other people to two waitress

We stayed at the Southview Park Hotel for a wedding and travelled with our 12 month old. On booking the room we requested a travel cot. Before travelling, I rang to check the travel cot was on the booking.. it wasn't, so they added it. On arrival I asked reception whether there was a travel cot in the room. She confirmed yes, it should be. When we got to the room, there was no travel cot.
The room and bathroom were both extremely dated. In the bathroom, the towel rail was hanging off the wall and the toilet flush was very weak. Our toilet seat was also hanging off at one side (as were pretty much all the toilet seats in the communal ladies toilets in the foyer area). I had a bath and the plug got stuck in so I couldn't drain the water afterwards. In the room there was a dead fly by the skirting board and the wood veneer on pretty much all the furniture was peeling off - not ideal with an inquisitive 1 year old walking around. The worst issue by far was the heating. On arrival, the room was sweltering and the heating was on full blast. We turned it off on the radiator itself and at the wall control but the heating continued to blast heat out. We were on the ground floor with patio doors but no windows so couldn't let any air in overnight as we wouldn't have felt safe having the doors open. Pablo brought us a fan which helped a little, but the heating issue needs to be resolved.
Customer-facing staff were great (although I did overhear breakfast staff having a good gossip about the wedding I'd attended the night before with a guest.. not professional at all. Especially as this 'guest' had received preferential treatment by being made porridge to order.. an option not available to anyone else at breakfast). Overall, the hotel itself let the stay down. It seems that the housekeeping staff don't feed back to maintenance about snagging issues that need to be resolved in the rooms or communal areas. A process desperately needs to be put in place here. Please, please take the opportunity to use the quiet winter months to refurbish the rooms and bathrooms.
I'd also like to see the hotel owners stay in a room of the standard we did. They'd likely be appalled and refuse to spend the night.

Firstly a great big thank you to all the staff in these covid times there all doing a great job in making people's stays as pleasant as possible all very professional, polite and friendly. The hotel was immaculate both inside and out so house keeping and grounds staff should also be congratulated for there hard work as it's not gone unnoticed.
One of the highlights has to be the swimming pool again immaculately clean with a great team all very friendly and professional. The boathouse bar and restaurant was a great place to relax and quality of food and service was again excellent.(the staffs Halloween costumes were brilliant a great team effort).
The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere and having recently undergone refurbishment now has a more modern contemporary feel. the rooms were comfortable with everything needed for a pleasant stay.
I hate to say anything negative and its only my personal opinion but as you ask for feedback I did think the new look hotel restaurant was a bit clinical looking and didn't have much of an intimate feel same with the hotel bar seating area not a big issue but I might of stayed in them longer (and if management are reading this spent more money!) if they'd not looked so much like a corporate canteen (appolages to the design team)
Putting that aside its still an excellent hotel with a great team of staff in a perfect location and if I haven't been blacklisted by the interior designers I'll certainly be booking again.🙂

We have just checked out of the Southview after a short stay at the hotel and are returning guests after staying at the hotel in August .
We were booked in at reception by the lovely Georgie who was excellent, very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in room 238 which is on the first floor and is accessible via an elevator. The room was nice and clean the staff all working incredibly hard.
The showbar staff are also working extremely hard providing a full night's varied entertainment which the kids loved.
The pool and fitness centre staff work exceptionally hard to keep the facility spotlessly clean and are very friendly .
Upon checkout Paula and Georgie helped with booking a future break and went above and beyond to meet our needs thank you so much we can't wait to return.

Expensive experience over £80 per night and nothing included due to our booking being mixed up and not getting what we actually wanted.
We stayed 1 week we were told check in from 3pm we arrived shortly after 3 and our room wasn't anywhere near ready, after travelling 5 hours we just wanted to unpack and relax!
Over an hour later it was ready.
Cannot fault the cleanliness however 2 paper cups 1 wooden stirrer and 1 toilet roll is all we were provided.
The toilet didn't flush and the heating was off.
My husband made 3 trips to reception regarding all our queries and was told someone would come and let us know ...they didn't he had to chase it the following day again.
There were no rooms available that we could change we were given a heater that's good but the toilet nothing could be done.
There are no sanitary bins and due to covid the rooms are not touched during the stay which I understand but we were out all day so I think something could have been done and we purchased cups spoons tea and coffee to make our own during the week.
We frequented the boathouse once for a meal and drinks using the app was easy if you actually get what you order we had to keep asking for things and I had the fish and chips the fish was beautiful but the chips were not cooked.

Thank you for leaving a review on TripAdvisor. We are sorry to read that you will not be returning to Skegness. It was myself you spoke to regarding your reservation of which I explained to you that you had reserved a superior double room through booking.com and not a suite and unfortunately we had no suites available to move you to. I also came to your room and answered immediately all of your questions. A token of gesture was given to you as you were unable to enter your room on time. Bins are provided in all of bathrooms. During your stay with us we experienced some exceptional warm weather hence the heating was turned off for that period of time. We wish you well for the future and if you would like to re visit in the future you will be more than welcome. ^GD
