Detailed Reviews
We have just come back from a 4 day stay at this hotel. There were lots of positives
All staff that we met were very welcoming and friendly. The guy behind the bar gave me ice whenever I asked.
The room was very clean as was the rest of the hotel. We had a family suite so our son was in an adjoining room which is good for the privacy of a teenager and would be great if you had younger kids who you wanted to get to sleep. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was large and had a bath and a shower. There was plenty of hot water but the shower could have had more pressure. The towels were large and soft. Toilet paper was of good quality.
The breakfast was tasty. But due to COVID was limited. There was plentiful toast. Only two cereals were on offer and there was no fruit.
I found the wifi to be satisfactory but you had to restart it from time to time.
The hotel is a bit of a walk from the town centre but is in a lovely part of Skegness.
I only had a couple of niggles. The bin in the bathroom did not have a lid which wasn't great when disposing of sanitary products. To start with we couldn't get BBC on the TV. On the third day we did some fiddling and it reappeared. Given the quality of the towels and the bedding I felt the pillows were not of good quality. I don't understand why cutlery and serviettes were placed in plastic bags. Someone put the cutlery in the bag. Someone then handled the bags to put them on tables. We then handled the bag to get the cutlery out. I don't think it would have been any riskier to just put cutlery on the table.
I was pleasantly surprised that the room had tea and coffee making facilities because I had received an email 2 days prior to travel telling me that these wouldn't be available which meant that I bought a kettle and took it and mugs and washing up liquid and my own tea and coffee. I think it was a recent change back to a more normal situation

Let me just say I'm not a fussy person very easy to please and can put up with most things I feel this is a very honest review and its not critical it's just honest feedback especially with what we have just gone through with the pandemic. OK let's start with the good things we stayed in room 101 nice big room the furnishing however are very shabby the tea and coffee not so good the tea bags are not wrapped just loose along with the coffee sachets the sheets bedding very clean . All in all the room is very basic as is the bathroom dirty shower curtain very off putting and no plastic beaker to put your tooth brush half a toilet roll left on the holder from previous guests . The staff are lovely and very helpful the breakfast room was one of the worst I have experienced very poor I would say the chef however was wonderful and very attentive my friend had vegetarian and he went out of his way to make sure she had everything she needed I had the small breakfast started with cornflakes very cheap not nice at all I couldn't eat my breakfast the the produce was cheap and nasty I did have some toast. I think this hotel has such potential but is let down by such silly things the bread for your toast is left in the bags so all and sundry put their hands in to make toast no tongues. Get your toast made before your breakfast arrives or it will get cold. We was woken very early by a man effing and Jeffing below our room had to be staff as it was in the big room below us. All in all the hotel and room seemed rundown and being run on a budget the bar area is very quirky the young girl behind the bar was lovely as was the receptionist and the chef.

Decided to spend New Year’s Eve at the crown with six of our friends based on the recommendation from our in-laws from the previous year that they went to. We were not disappointed at all in what we had that night. It was £25 a ticket with live band playing two sets throughout the night and in between that a disco on. There was also a very very tasty and wide variety of buffet on as well from 9 o’clock. The only thing I would say is that the buffet could really do with being a little bit earlier in the night in my opinion. You also got a glass of fizz/Bucks fizz on the way into the room as well and there is a table with your name on it that you have got for the whole night. Abby and the staff there do an excellent job and we are returning later in January for the Motown night as well. Sunday carvery is probably the best in town and served from 5 o’clock at night. (Booking advisable) all in all excellent value for money

We visited yesterday lunchtime, as a group of 8, to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday. The barman (I didn't get his name) was fabulous - from welcoming us, hiding the birthday cake, taking our order and bringing our food. He even found me a cake knife and someone to light the candles. He really made the visit for us.
The food was good value for money, with a little wait for the mixed grill which was remedied by a round of drinks.

The hotel was easy to find and had plenty of parking space. It's about 10-15mins walk away from everything, which meant it was lovely and quiet at night.
We had a family room which was big enough for us all. There was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room due to coronavirus but we could have some downstairs free of charge because of this.
Breakfast the next day was lovely, not greasy at all! And the staff were friendly and helpful.
I would happily stay here again, I slept like a log, didn't hear any noise at all!

The room was lovely very big great bathroom very large bath, it was great so relaxing. water hot as soon as tap turned on, nice bar with good food and the breakfast was lovely, really good quality ingredients very hot and service considering the coronavirus situation it was very very good. Overall really good hotel.
Only down side was the distance from the hotel to the clock tower is was a good 20 minutes walk it was alright for us as the weather was lovely we did get a taxi in the evening which cost £4 for the 2 of us.

My family and I stayed for 1 night. Thank goodness it was only the 1 night! on arrival, first impressions from the outside is that it looks so run down. When you go inside there are random statues and a huge sofa that you would have in a living room not the reception of a hotel! On check in the receptionist had a dog sitting on their lap and out key wasn't hanging on the hook so we got given the last spare!
Room was fine to just be there to sleep in, shower cubicle didn't work, the water didn't drain so therefore used the shower in the bath, If you watched the tv in the room with the double bed the one in the twin room section didn't work. This didn't go down well with the kids.
Breakfast, no staff apart from one person wearing swimming shorts and flip flops to serve. table cloths filthy, no hygiene status what so ever. the tables were not being cleared and clean table clothes etc. breakfast itself was basic but by this point didn't expect anything fancy.
Basically I wouldn't stay here again unless I was desperate and just needed somewhere to lay my head as a base, Pictures on the hotel website are nothing like what the hotel is actually like!

We stayed hear for 4 nights over the bank holiday, the staff were warm and friendly they were all great with our dogs who were treated like guests ,we found it to be very clean the rooms have been revamped from when it was the crown and our room was really lovely with some old grand furniture. The bath room again was clean and tidy and we were pleasantly supprised to have a bath. The bar has been really nicely done out fair prices and a good selection of beers we had fish and chips that was fresh and tasty. The beach is really close and is so beautiful up that end it’s really quite really pretty and the dogs are alowed,Something to be aware of tho is that some reviews make it sound like there is a bus to town there isn’t it’s about a 20 min walk and getting a cab at busy times is a pig ( Altho it is only about £5) the bar has live music on Fridays and saterday a and that can make some areas of the hotel quite loud untill about midnight / 1am but we didn’t find this to much of an issue. We only ate breakfast in the hotel once and found it very loud and a bit disorganised but the food was ok. All in all we wouldn’t hesitate to book it again and I deff think that it has the potential to be one of the better hotels in skeg.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hatters. The room was clean and comfortable and at a great price.
The owners and staff were really nice and we can see from the upgrades they have made to the hotel that this place will be even nicer as they refurbish more of the hotel.
The refurbished bar area is warm and welcoming and is a great place for a meal and a drink.
The WiFi was really good in our room and the bed and my partner loved the shower (she is really fussy about showers!)
The hotel iks dog friendly and there's a great walk just around the corner which we really loved.
A nice stay at a nice hotel run by nice people. We will stay again
