Stopped to see if any accommodation for couple of nights. 3pm on a Tuesday. Did our usual and get coffee first to assess any hotel. Walked in and at reception a scruffy man smelling of cigarette smoke came . We asked if we could have coffee and told " NO". That was it . He turned and left us standing!!...

It is difficult to give an overall rating. In some ways it was very good but in others only average. Stay for the experience. The approach was up an unmade drive to an old country house that had been built as a hunting lodge in the 1800's. There was no slope for disabled people to the front door and no...

This is how British hotels used to be and it is fun. Needs TLC, yes it is old fashioned but it is an experience you cannot replicate, great location and views. Beautiful dining room and true old fashioned service with excellent food. Clean, quiet and comfortable, I slept very well. Loved Bertie the Retriever and his toy rabbit!

The hotel is in need of a little TLC but it is like stepping back in time. Beautiful Guest areas, especially the Bar. It is an old Hunting Lodge and is set in 16 acres of ground which was wonderful for running the 5 dogs we had with us. The rooms were very clean and we had a lovely sleep....

We stayed here for one night while cycling the highland coast to coast and the Cambus O May was perfectly situated for our last days ride. While it is probably not at the height of its 'glory days' it is a hotel that has class and some great history. It is clean, tidy, welcoming and the staff are really friendly....

We stayed here on a recent trip to Scotland and having originally booked 3 nights, had to move after the first night because the whole hotel including the bed sheets and towels smelled of cigarette smoke. The hotel itself was very quaint and certainly felt like we'd stepped back about 30 years and the owners was very welcoming but to...

We have just spent 4 days at Cambus O'May. We had a very pleasant time, food was lovely, room very comfortable. In spite of the hotel being quiet, as it was very low season, the service was very good and we were made to feel welcome at all times during our stay. We would certainly return to this hotel.

We have just returned from a one week holiday at the Cambus O May hotel, Ballater. We love it here! Beautiful location set within it's own pine woodland, part of the Cambus O May Forest. Have been receiving such a warm welcome for the past seven years. Guests we meet here have been returning again and again, sometimes for decades,...
