This hotel was a big surprise to us. When arriving in Ballater, we nearly missed it because we didn't know that it is a former church. However, the big surprise was after we checked in: nice and comfortable rooms, with big and modern bathrooms, a great breakfast next day and, above all, very friendly and helpful hosts. The hotel is...

The Auld Kirk is conveniently situated a short walk from the centre of Ballater and is very accessible just off the main road to Braemar. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom modern with a good shower. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly as was the staff and the breakfast was one of the best we have ever...

Stayed for one night recently when walking in Cairngorms. Great place with nice clean modern rooms, friendly owners and the breakfast and service was first class. Could not fault it in any way. The breakfast room is lovely. The whole place being an old church has loads of character, is well decorated and a pleasure to stay in. I would...

A very warm welcome from the hosts, who could not have been more helpful to my elderly parents in particular. A good night's sleep and breakfast was about the most delicious i have ever had. We were spoiled for choice and it was all outstandingly good. Locally sourced and very well cooked. Smoked haddock with poached eggs was particularly good,...

The Auld Kirk is a beautifully converted bed and breakfast very close to the centre of Ballater. It is very well situated for access to the southern Cairngorms or the Aberdeenshire castles trail and we stayed here for the Braemar Games in early September. All the bedrooms are upstairs and ours was very highly furnished. downstairs is a plush guests...

Loved this old church bed and breakfast. The location is beautiful. Our room was comfortable and the black-out curtain was very helpful. It was the best breakfast we had on the trip. So many choices and all of the food was tasty as well as beautiful. Our host was considerate and very helpful.

We loved this historic building and our lovely suite. The ensuite was absolutely splendid, with a deep tub and shower, beautiful tiles and fixtures. The bed was comfy, the service friendly and helpful, and the old church building has been lovingly restored with many beautiful details. There is a lounge which has bar service in the evenings, and it is...
