What should have been a lovely 2 days was just awful. The hotel is a beautiful building that has had some renovations but the health club is horrendous and possibly dangerous. Not to mention probably harbouring some infections such as Hep A. I have never seen such appallingly awful conditions. The poor girl who worked there didn't know if she...

We arrived Sunday afternoon and settled in our room on the third floor. Decided to have evening dinner. Had trouble finding the dining room and ordered roast dinner, which arrived looking tired and reheated. Suspect it was recycled from midday carvery left overs. Next morning was awakened before 8am when a hoard of noisy builders set up in the next...

Stayed here twice in a week and both times had no problems. Ok the floor is not the levellest but been in worse. Could not fault the staff who were excellent. The only very minor hiccup was with the bell for disabled access but not enough to put a dampner on the trips. Would definitely stay again.

We have stayed a number of times at the Royal and we love it. The main entrance and staircase are beautiful and my daughters love staying. We paid for a family room but actually got a suite which was fabulous. Our suite was lovely and clean. Staff were very friendly and went the extra mile to make sure our daughter...

Room slanted, poor condition but was clean, heating on a few hrs in morning and evening. 20 mins free internet then you had to pay. We were there to attend a function £25 a head for 3 course meal,...

Room was tired and needed some intensive cleaning. Chandelier in the room needed a good dusting and the bathroom ceiling started to leak from the upstairs room on our last day. Staff were pleasant and the room was split so that our girls had their own bedroom and bunk beds which they loved. Beds were clean and all laundry was...
