Hotel provided warm welcome, comfortable room & bed and excellent breakfast. The customer lounge was nicely decorated and offered a comfortable place to read papers or watch tv. The host is charming and full of local knowledge.

This is a small cosy hotel nestled above Minehead. It's a short downhill walk into town, a little more arduous coming back; the upside is you are away from the noise, traffic etc of town and have great views across the town from high up. Bedrooms well furnished and comfortable. Plenty of hot water and decent shower. Enjoyed the lounge...

We stayed in room 4 for a few days with great views, clean and tidy room with a great breakfast if you like a full English. The downside was wifi didn't reach to the bed, standing by the door or in the hall works. The TV reception is poor at best. We could find BBC picture only, no sound and...

The house is attractive, but the owner is not a congenial host. He always seems to know better than the guests when it comes to recommending a day's ramble. And when his hens and chickens at the back side of the house are attacked by foxes (as happened several times during the night) the dogs begin to bark with excitement...

The hotel is very relaxing and in a beautiful setting. The friendly and helpful host was full of local information. Very well maintained property full of interesting but not cluttered decor. Good food - especially the eggs fresh from his hens! No hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

Was a lovely place for a break but we just didn't like the fact you couldn't lock the door ... But was a lovely breakfast , very filling!!!! Also there was a stain on the bedding on the first night sleeping there!!! We liked the fact that we were the youngest as it meant it was nice and quiet .

Thank you very much for your review & lovely comments about our breakfast & peaceful location. However, we are slightly puzzled by some of your remarks! Firstly, you most certainly CAN lock your door - there are simple instructions on the inside of the door explaining 'TO LOCK DOOR, PUSH BUTTON ON DOOR KNOB'; it will then automatically lock behind...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Marston Lodge provides visitors, to the wilds of Exmoor, a warm and welcoming launch pad for both exploration and relaxation. This coast and country house was an impressive and elegant, Edwardian gentleman's residence (built circa 1900) which retains much of its original character, charm and style. Being amongst the first private residences built on Exmoor's scenic North Hill it enjoys unrivaled panoramic views from most of its individual, comfortable and stylish en-suite bedrooms. Take a 10 minute walk into the town and enjoy the wide selection of quirky shops, bars, restaurants and coffee shops or head further along the coast to the medieval village of Dunster and Blue Anchor. Alternatively, follow the South West Coast Path and venture up on to beautiful Exmoor National Park (just a few steps from our front door!). Allow us to create an individual, memorable itinerary and guide you to Exmoor's Secret Hidden Gems (using our invaluable local knowledge and numerous experiences!!)... Whatever the weather! Take a Home Made Picnic or ask us to highlight the best eating spots on your tour. Return after a 'Wild & Wooly' day of excitement and adventure to a log fire and a hearty, traditional home made supper. With the best views in town and welcoming, relaxed hosts, Marston Lodge offers a home-from-home style atmosphere that you will want to re-live over and over again. ... more   less
