Have been coming here whenever visiting Folkestone since 1988 and the grand old Clifton dame never disappoints, from its unique location on the Prom within a short stroll to the High Street, comfy armchairs in spacious lounges and with silver service full English breakfast overlooking lawns full with squirrels and seagulls... a small number of subsidised free parking spaces outside... Had a very enjoyable stay again .this is a an old hotel with character our twin room on the first floor was large and warm comfy. Very creaky floorboards and don't recommend the lift to anyone who is chlaustrophobic so choose a first floor room. The breakfast was very nice and a nice setting too.Would certainly stay again.

Avoid Room 352! The mattress had no support whatsoever and was well past its sell by. All the shower could produce was a dribble of water. We complained and a full refund and apology was given. The whole hotel is old and tired with a strange smell of damp downstairs.

We had a beautiful sea view room ( 103 ) . Immaculate . King size and very comfortable bed . Everything was spotless and clean . I had to call reception in the morning as the coffee and milk had not been replenished . They arrived in minutes with coffee , sugar , biscuits and a jug of fresh milk... More

After returning back from supper, we discovered 4 cockroaches in the bathroom of our third floor room. There was no-one on reception to report the problem to. By three in the morning there were 8! We complained and received a full refund and a complimentary coffee whilst we waited, and waited....for the assistant manager. He looked unconvincing as he said... More

Visited the hotel on business and stayed two nights. Firstly, important to say the staff were fine - amenable and friendly. But, boy, has this hotel seen better days... OK, so it was clean but it's in major need of updating. Paintwork, carpets, furniture - all so old and tired. My shower (actually a showerhead on a hose over the... More

Spent two nights here. Room 471 was spacious, slightly tired but had a charming view. It was also quiet. The downside was the shower. The genius who masterminded its' renovation failed to take into account the mansard roof (sloping). The slope and position of the shower and the bath prevented the shower being used by this six foot chap! Very... More

The room was perfect, plenty of space very bright and very clean. It also had an iron and ironing board in the cupboard. There were tea, coffee and biscuits . we were situated on the fourth floor and we had a beautiful sea view from our corner. The hotel is literally a two minute walk away from the town centre....
