We got off to a bad start with this accommodation. We were having our luggage transported by taxi as a group of us were walking Offa's Dyke. Only 3 were staying at The First Hurdle and the other 3 were catching the train home from Chepstow that evening. As a matter of courtesy that morning I phoned to warn the...

I booked this place before checking Trip Advisor so I was a bit fearful of what I would find. Well, I have to say I really shouldn't have worried. I was in Room 1 which was perfectly adequate for a single. Yes, the decor is dated and being to the front the walls show signs of damp, but, it served...

This is a reasonably priced B and B set in a convenient part of the town with good eating choices very nearby. I was warmly welcomed and received good service throughout the visit. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and breakfast was well cooked. I shall certainly book again when I next visit Chepstow.

Looks lovely from the outside but not quite so nice on the inside. Clean but very dated. My bed was the softest I have ever slept on, which meant it was actually very uncomfortable. Staff are friendly but slightly odd. I was greeted by a very nice young lady cradling a baby who asked if it would be ok if...

My sister and I stayed here for one night and in July. When I booked I didnt look at the reviews as it was the only place that had availability in the area. We were given the last 2 rooms, both singles which suited us. I confirmed the booking a few weeks later and confirmed check in times. We arrived...

Wonderfully comfortable bed and service above and beyond. After arriving at my original accommodation choice to find that a reservation made through booking.com had not gone through and there was no space. The First Hurdle was recommended and booked for me by the manager of the original destination. I could not have asked for more. The attic room was stunning,...

we stayed at the "First Hurdle" on the last night of our week of walking on Offa's Dyke Path. The location was convenient for catching the train back to London, and also for exploring the town. We found a nice place to have supper nearby. The room was very small, and we were awakened during the night by a noisy...

I booked two single rooms and a twin at The First Hurdle via an online booking agency more than 2 months before our arrival date but cancelled the twin room more than 3 weeks before the day. We booked early to ensure we had rooms to come back to after the Heineken Cup final in Cardiff that evening. Two days...
