Our visit coincided with the winter festival which we couldn't have timed any better. The town was busy, the Christmas light magical and the bookshops to die for. Our accommodation was wonderful, the whole place was clean, warm and inviting. All the rooms have oak beams and as you would expect with a building of its age sloping floors which...

My mother and I stayed at Rest for the Tired for two nights in September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our twin room on the second floor was comfortable and quiet (despite overlooking the street), with the individual character that only comes from an old building. We chose Rest for the Tired partly for its convenient location and partly for...

We stayed for 2 nights and could have stayed longer. Our room was located just above the fish & chip shop beside the bookshop. This didn't inconvenience our stay in any way. There were 3 of us and we still had lots of space in our rooms. In fact the bathroom was huge. The room was very clean and tidy...

Just had my second stay at Rest for the Tired. Such a cozy, comfortable place to relax and enjoy a holiday. Mary is such a welcoming Hostess and makes stay there a delight! Also, very helpful in giving ideas of things to see and do in the area. We will definitely be back--for a third time!

We were attending a wedding in Haye and spent the night at this B&B. We had a room in the old stable block (i think) and it was a really good size room and bathroom, clean, and we had a great nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was yummy and we couldn't have asked for a better hostess, who kept...

My mom and I stayed at Rest for the Tired for two nights and it was lovely. Mary was so welcoming and gave us lots of advice about where to spend our days. The b&b itself had so much charm and character and the breakfasts Mary made were delicious! We've already booked a second visit in a few months!

+ It's directly on Offa's Dyke Path. The hostess was kind and helpful. There's a common room to sit in (although we didn't) and the room was good. - The place is located close to a fish-n-chips, so the smell will drift up to your room. We also heard some clunking noise (like construction) but this might've been a one...

Wonderful time staying in the most fabulous guesthouse. Mary the proprietor was excellent with her attentiveness, conversation and local knowledge of a great moped route over the Black Mountain Pass. Perfect biker rest stop.

the rooms we had were cosy, relaxing and there was the added bonus of use of the living room! Mary loves to chat to her guests and the shared breakfast table led to an interesting meeting with other guests. The breakfast itself was delicious, and tailored to our requirements. Lovely introduction to a fascinating and fun town.

I came to town for bookshops and peacefull countryside. I luckily found this pleasent and charming B&B in shorter notice & was very happy about my choice. Mary made good breakfest & told about the history of Hay-on-Wye!

“There are four rooms: two upstairs, one of which has a door suitable for hobbits, one through the kitchen (where I stayed this time) and another one that I have not seen. I would stop in any of them. The owners also have a holiday cottage next door, so for longer stays it may be worth asking them about that.”
