Lovely Hotel, excellent Customer Service, happy to accept our well behaved Collies too. Great location in the stunning Buxton Village, with lovely views and close to the town centre. Breakfast was fresh and a good choice of continental and cooked.

The Palace is just really awful. We've stayed there many times because it's such a good location - near the station and a short walk from town. But it has to be said, it's a terrible hotel. Despite the lovely lobby and beautiful staircase which greet you, it's dirty, cold, dishevelled and depressing. There aren't enough staff, and the ones...

I visited this hotel with some apprehension, having read the mixed reviews. This was not helped by the hotel not returning my calls when I had a query. However, I have to say that our stay was very enjoyable, as was the food. The room was comfortable and the heating certainly worked. Yes, the decor is a bit dated and...

I have a mixed review with regards to this place. I was down last week with my work for a conference and Christmas do. The rooms were very outdated (serious refreshment needed), our heating never seemed to work either. Our room and a few other people had a lot of problems with the keys as well; one minute they would...

I went to the Palace Hotel on Friday night with a group of colleagues for our Christmas party, and was pleasantly surprised. We had a fantastic time! The food was faultless and the waiters were attentive. Couldn't ask for more. There was also a great disco, and we danced all night.

I have stayed here twice now and will not do so again. The issue is the staff have a generally poor attitude and are just not good enough to cater for a hotel of this size and past pedigree. The food is very average and they ran out out of pizza bases at 7.30pm. The pool and gym are the...

Spent one night in this mausoleum while on business nearby. Cold and soulless and well past it's use by date. Checking in was a long drawn out process without any apology for the delay. Walking up the stair to my room I could detect a whiff of a bygone age. Room was a good sized but that was they only...

I always try to write a balanced review, taking into account price and the location, and having stayed at the Palace Hotel a few times, but not in the last 3 years or so and it was always OK. However this visit really poor. Check in was OK but a little terse, Having been out to a Christmas dinner we...

I was travelling with five others to Chatsworth House xmas market on Friday and we stayed at the Palace Hotel for three days. The twin room on the second floor was comfortable and warm. The food was very good and there was a good choice each morning and evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but there was a...

No hot water in room until early evening. No WiFi. No heating, except a very small electric heater (completely useless), which took up one of the three plug sockets (the TV took up another, so if you wanted to watch TV with the ineffectual heater on, that left one socket free. Bad news if you have two phones to recharge,...
