Who ever has given this hotel 4 stars should of given us a 4 star warning. Price was 45 quid more room was disgusting ordered food chief had gone home. Spa therapist was rude and rushing home. Lifts did not work and I think they need to invest in a duster and staff need to go to learn some manner.

This is a lovely, but tired looking 'grand' hotel, with a large sweeping staircase and rooms off several corridors, but it all needs some TLC. On check-in we were initially put in the basement room 117. A strong musty/damp/chlorine smell greeted us. We were quickly moved on request to 318, which gave us a view of the Peak District. This...

We had a meal at the Palace Hotel Restaurant after arriving in Buxton during Easter weekend and finding that most of the restaurants were fully booked out. Unfortunately we had not read any of the reviews on TripAdvisor beforehand and based on the grandeur and elegance of the hotel from the outside we went in with moderate expectations of a...

Went there for a 'spa treat' with my good friend, unfortunately it wasn't so much as a treat, more disappointment. The facilities are in dire need of an update, it was just such a let down, it looks so grand from the outside, the pool needs a desperate revamp, there are cracks in the walls and the sauna and steam...

We spent a night here as a Groupon deal which include an evening meal, bottle of wine and breakfast. The hotel itself was impressive and clean. Our double room was clean and tidy and had all the usual facilities such as TV, en suite, tea/coffee etc. The evening meal was delicious with plenty of choice as well as being able...

We bought a spa day on Groupon and didn't expect much for the price we paid. We booked a couple of extra treatments to make it special. Soooooo The hotel looks quite grand as you drive up the road...OMG I took my rose tinted glasses off because the closer we got to the front door the more the decrepit hotel...

Staff were delightful and it must have been a fabulous hotel at some point but sadly now it is in a state of disrepair and in urgent need of some tlc. Decor faded and grubby , roof leaking etc a real shame

What has happened to ‘The Palace’? The standard of the whole place has deteriorated, Four Star standard it certainly is not!, although the price we paid would suggest this. Our executive room was clean but tired and shabby. It took over 30 minutes to check in, and fortunately we had taken our booking form from the internet booking with us,...

I can't believe this place has been given 4 stars!!! It's a dump and not fit for humans to stay in. The food is the worst thing I have ever had to eat. I left at 12pm because I didn't want to wait for breakfast. I drove the 50 minutes drive home. I have not been to any hotel like...
