Hotel is very tired and the excuse of its keeping its charm is just an excuse not to deal with the repairs that need doing. although i will state if your looking for a hotel in buxton ALL of them are like this. The bed was comfortable but that is the only real positive i can make. The breakfast was...

I have stayed here several times before but had not been for a few years. This is the polar opposite of the modern chain hotels as this is a family run business in an attractive old building. The hotel has changed little over the years but retains a charm in keeping with its period. This is not a soulless modern...

good position near the opera house. parking was available in the street next to the hotel. the breakfast was good and breakfast staff friendly. the reception was manned by a gentleman who was pleasant and helpful. the only downside was the rooms being dated and tired.

From bad to worse, Went for one night in January, got offered two rooms (the one we'd payed for and a cheaper one) when we actually got to our room it was freezing cold because the heating wasn't on and hadn't been all day, the rooms itself wasn't too badly decorated although smelt of mold which surrounded one of the...

Smell of mound all the way through the hotel. Single glazed window. No heating. Tv didn't work. The door on our room didn't lock properly. Noisy road and right next to traffic lights. Had to sit sideways on the toilet and the bed was extremely noisy. Couldn't wait to get home. Never again. Please avoid!!

I stop here while visiting family in Buxton. The hotel is clean and the breakfast was good, however the place is feeling very tired. In my room, the sink was correctly fixed to the wall and the shower wasn't much more than a trickle. It's an alright place when you need a last minute room but I wouldn't choose to...

When I spoke to the man at the other end on the day prior to my travel to Buxton, he seemed to be keen to debit my card then and there, but as my plans to travel had not yet firmed up, I maintained a friendly banter but declined to confirm my reservation. When I finally landed up at the...

Had already booked before reading the reviews on here - silly me! Arrived, therefore, with some trepidation, so was pleasantly surprised with the clean fresh appearance of the round floor - looked newly decorated. After that it all went downhill; bag of laundry(?) in hallway, dirty shelves with plastic plants on the landing, mouldy grout on the bathroom tiles, mould...
