If it hadn’t been for the extreme noise and Covid rule breaking, our overnight stay with family would have been as expected for a 3/5 hotel. We booked two family rooms which were big and clean, if a little overpriced, but that’s to be expected in this summer of staycations. However, they played the England semi final game downstairs in the bar and, honestly, it was packed and rowdy as if there was no pandemic. People were standing shoulder to shoulder, shouting and chanting, for hours. When we needed to come back to our room, even the hotel hallways surrounding the bar were full of people standing up, milling around without masks, and we had to walk through them. Later, when England won, there was singing and chanting for hours and hours. One of our party thinks she saw people taking drugs outside. The owners need to decide if they’d prefer to run a busy bar or a family hotel, because you can’t do both, especially during COVID times.

Had 2 rooms booked for a local event and very pleased with the room layout, spacious and clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful taking care of all guests. Hotel is in a good location close to town centre. Food is also very good!

The rooms we booked were not available, we booked via Booking.com and the check in people said that this was our fault. She was aggressive at first. We took the two rooms as no other option. She then called and offered a free breakfast which was a nice thought and accepted. We should have progressed via Booking.com as we were most definitely overcharged. The small double was roasting and exceptionally noisy. The triple in the cabin block was better but also noisy. There was a large party going on and this continued until at least 1:30 am. When calling reception they give an emergency mobile to call. Not helpful in the event and without paper pen etc. Overall a poor experience, we felt for the breakfast cook who was doing her very best but not good food. P.S Staff did not were masks over mouth and nose inside, and if this is their approach to safety suspect other is also lacking.

Currently staying here on a business trip. Tried to find a close place to the job but at a reasonable price. Having usually stayed at the Marriotts or jury’s in on business trips I wasn’t expecting too much but this is a lovely little place and the service is absolutely fantastic! I cannot fault the place, especially for the low place! I’ll definitely return, with the wife when everything is open and safe to do so. Thanks.
