Visiting my mother in The Cloisters, Carnegie Road, we decided to stay at the Merton Guest House for convenience, as it was only a short walk from her residence.
What a blessing it was.
Mark and Helene are the owners and Mark was so welcoming, it put us at ease straight away, staing that if he had known we were coming by train, he would have met us at the station.
The room was spotlessly clean and well decorated. It had blackut curtains that ensured total darkness at night.
The tea/coffee/chocolate items were exceptional, with bottled water, cookies and chocolates.
Toiletries were abundant and so was the selectin of towels.
In the morning the 'Full Breakfast' was truly full!! Great selection of cereals, huge choice of cooked breakfast items and marmalade and jams in abundance. Mark is a great 'chef and sa to our individual needs.
At our departure, Mark again offered to take us to the station.
Overall an excellent establishment and we would not hesitate to stay again.

This is a lovely clean, tidy and comfortable guest house.
The owner is very friendly and accomodating and cooks a great breakfast (veggie).
The rooms are warm and cosy with plenty of space for clothes and luggage and the beds are comfortable.
Shower gel and shampoo and cotton wool balls are provided in the bathroom along with nice fluffy towels. Parking is available but I prefer to park in the very nearby Georgia Avenue as pulling onto the busy road can be tricky at times.

We had the pleasure of staying at Mark's for a week last year. He was a great host. Always friendly and very attentive to our needs. We were a group of six people and he still managed to cook each of us an individual breakfast which always was delicious.
The rooms were comfy, warm and clean. As were the bathrooms which every single room had.
We arrived quite late at night but Mark didn't mind and when we left he even drove us to the bus stop to make sure that we'd make it there in time.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay and hope to be back some time soon.

stayed at the guest house this week for work. Mark was incredibly welcoming and always went the extra mile. He booked us restaurants, cooked our breakfasts to order (which he remembered individually) and even gave us a lift to work with our baggage.
The rooms were immaculately clean and well provisioned with everything that you could ask for. Little shampoos and shower gels, plenty of towels, a kettle with tea coffee and biscuits and even bottles of water.
Furthermore, the guest house is a walk from the pier and beaches. We had a great stay and I couldn’t recommend the Merton Guest House enough.

This place is an absolute gem. Mark and Helene could not have made us feel more welcome. Nothing was too much trouble from the moment we arrived.
Room was perfect, spotlessly clean.
Bed was comfortable, lovely shower, tea & coffee facilities and television in the room – what more could you ask for!
Anything required for breakfast, Mark covers every angle, clearly a superb cook.
I would definitely stay here again, much more preferable than being ripped off in Brighton particularly notably with parking of car.
Location is excellent, trips to Chichester & Arundel within easy reach.
100% recommend staying here, pleasure or business, you won’t go wrong

All of the other reviews are totally accurate. Mark runs an excellent b and b. My wife and I had the best room which was well worth the extra few pounds - spacious and very clean. Mark also prepares a great full English breakfast.
We also benefitted from the off street parking which was a great bonus in this area. Worthing railway station is an easy 10 to 12 minutes away, giving access to Brighton without the hassle of parking there.

Another enjoyable stay at the Merton. Mark is an excellent host and his full English lasts all day, everywhere is spotlessly clean and nothing is too much trouble. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Once again, whilst visiting family in the area, we chose to stay with Mark at Merton House.
As usual we were warmly greeted and escorted to our room which was warm, cosy and spotlessly clean.
In the morning we were presented with Mark's fabulous breakfast which kept us well fed for most of the day.
We thoroughly recommend Merton House for anyone staying in this Area. You will not be disappointed.
If you want a quieter room then ask for one at the back of the house as the main road runs past the front.

More than would be expected e.g. handy little sewing kit, chocolates on the coffee/tea tray etc. Friendly host who went above and beyond in terms of accommodating our early departure time, providing us with supplies for our journey etc. Really lovely B&B, will definitely use again. Well done Mark!
