We were a party of 8 celebrating a birthday. Firstly they had the reservation for the following day so didn't get the table we had requested. We were all having a roast carvery, four of us managed to get our meal and four gave up waiting for replenishment of potatoes and vegetables to come out. As we left there was...

I love this hotel. The rooms are furnished in a classic English way, i felt like Jane Austen. The hotel is right by highdown gardens and it's an amazing surrounding with immense fields to walk on. The breakfast is well cooked and the restaurants (carvery) serves a very nice Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Only problem is that on...

Thank you for your comments although I would like to point out that The Carvery is open all day on Sundays. & I think you have mistaken it for Mon- Sat as we have a lunch & evening sitting. The Bar is open until 10pm, We are pleased you enjoyed your time with us Thank you The Highdown Team

This was a last minute decision to come here because of traffic holdups on A27. We had the basic carvery meal. The turkey was very bland and fibrous. The carrots were so hard all four of us left them and my wife said that the cauliflower was also very hard and there were no peas offered. Not very impressed. I...

We thank you for your review & are surprised that your comments were not expressed to the Duty manager at the time . We do cook all our vegetables al dente, & vary the vegetables from the lunch & evening Carvery this could have been the reason for the peas not being on the Carvery deck at the time. if...

Very basic food, not much flavour. I ordered a nut roast which was burnt underneath I hard through. I've ordered a nut roast before a few months ago too it was burnt then as well. The staff were very nice and offered me to just pay for a child's meal instead of full price. Lovely build and location. Service 10/10....

Had a lovely evening at Highdown last night celebrating Valentine's Day. Meal was excellent, a varied set menu inclusive of a bottle of wine, food was 1st class and the staff who served us Sophie and Callum were very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a very enjoyable evening and would recommend this venue for Valentine Dinner next year. Have eaten...

Last Sunday we visited for the first time The Highdown Hotel & Restaurant for a carvery. And it was a nice surprice, food was hot, yes it was hot. You could mix meat, which is not very often you could do it when having carvery. My 4 year old wanted try two different meat and it wasn't the problem for...

We had booked for a party of 14 for a birthday party. We had started to get our food and half way through they person serving left and went into the kitchen as the roast potatoes had run out; we were left waiting for 30 minutes until more arrived! The food was delicious and we enjoyed it, but it would...

Room 8. A very friendly staff and the restaurant food first class. The room was very good, but could be improved. The furniture was very good but could do with a double wardrobe as the one in my room was just a bit bigger than a grandfather clock. Why does it need two tables?? The bed was very comfortable and...
