We only went to eat, our first visit to the Golden Pheasant since its recent refurbishment. Less changed than anticipated, and fairly quiet. Good selection of Lees ales. I had the fish pie, my partner the lamb shank. A common problem I find with fish pie, not just here but elsewhere, is not being properly heated through and sure enough... More

My husband and myself called into the Golden Pheasant while we was returning home after a nice walk in the countryside. We thought we would have a bite to eat but when we looked on the menu we noticed that there was not really much choice. Also while I was reading the menu I noticed that the menu did not... More

Excellent food got to be the best Sunday roast in Cheshire. All veg and meat is cooked to perfection. Staff are all very polite and attentive. But not over bearing and we didn't have to pay up front but could open a tab at the bar.

The hotel is directly below the flight path of Manchester airport and is very noisy if you sit out in their ample gardens. The pub side is very attractive and our room was more than adequate but suffered all night from a very loud noise from the beer coolers. The food was quite fancy but very average. All in all,... Heard a lot about the food from friends, but when my partner and I went it was one of the most awkward experiences in a restaurant. We came through the doors, 3 waitresses saw us come in, not one of them said anything they looked at us and walked off. We weren't sure where to sit or how to order,... More

Lovely large country pub which is very inviting on arrival, and great ambience as you enter. We booked in for Sunday carvery and had 3 courses for £17.95 and with plenty of choices for starter and desserts, and options of just one or two courses it was fantastic value. Staff all very helpful and friendly, and with three meats and... More

Six friends meet up every 3/4 months for a meal, one of the party chose the Pheasant,as they have used it for some time for a quiet drink, but not dined. A table was booked and arrangements made. For a Saturday the hotel was very quiet for early evening, but we were welcomed and allocated a table, the staff were... More
